One of my personal favorites -- the red Perdisco (Hitachi) TRK-8600RM. I believe these were only sold in Japan. There's also a blue model, which I'd like to acquire too.

This one is in excellent cosmetic condition, the only real exterior problem is the pitting on the handle chrome. It's got some power issues -- no sound at all -- but I have a working silver 8600 that I'm going to use as a donor to get this one in perfect condition.

Sorry for the crap iPhone pics, I hope to get some nicer shots soon.

I always keep an eye on those when they pop up.

You and me both!

I tried scooping up one of these while in Japan, but always got out bid.... absolutely Beautiful

I'd never seen the Blue one before, nice, but not like the red one.

Top Score!

Very nice. Be careful operating that one on 120V. Highly suggest retrofitting the Power Supply on this one. The 8600 isn't really the same as the 8600RM though, right? Different feature set so boards might be different too?

Thanks for all the comments, guys.

Ah, so it was you who bought this one:

Yep, that's the one. :-)

You're the first to say the word, so you've got first dibs. Pretty sure I'll be keeping this one for a long time, though. :-D

Actually the donor box I have is also an 8600RM so I'll just be putting the front end of this straight on to that one. But since that one is also 100V, what do I need to know to do a power supply retrofit? Any advice or suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

I bought a non-working 8600RM and just spent a LOOOOONG time with contact cleaner and fiddled with every switch and pot. It came to life after about a solid hour. Then I changed the transformer for a 240V one from a local electronics dealer. Very easy and only $12 :-)
Now it runs beautifully.
I would try that out before spoiling a silver one just as a donor box. The silver is gorgeous. For me anyway :-D
