Sanyo m 9980

How good a box is the Sanyo m 9980? Anybody own one? How good is the build and sound quality and how does it compare to the m 9994?

I got one!

It is a small boombox with tiny speakers. You cannot expect any good bass from them. The sound quality is average. It got good battery life and is very portable.

It got 2.5Watts/channel making a total output power of 5Watts.

I like the looks and the size of the sanyo and also the lights on the tuner dial.

Thanks BL48 for the info.. Hopefully others will chime in. Was this box made in the late 70's or early 80's?

I actually have the Japanese version MR-9500 . Its a great little box - very heavy for its size.

Like others have said, smallish radio with good heft to it. High Quality. Sound is not bad -- actually, I think it sounds quite good, again, keeping in mind that it's not a kaboom. Beautiful when plugged in -- one of the few radios that can distinguish between AC and DC operation and light it's dial up accordingly. In other words, dial is automatically lit when operated on AC. Somewhat rarer than many Sanyos. Build quality on par with M9994 but nowhere near the size or power, nor features.

Thanks to all for the info and the pics much appreciated.. I tend to like the small to mid size 70's to early 80's boxes with good tuners..I have a JVC 656 that I like...What else is out there that would compare or might be better than the m9980?
