I have one and it's much, much better for the addition of a couple of packs of rockwool in the speaker cabs. Bass output was tuneless and frankly poor with the empty polystyrene enclosures but with the rockwool, the bass is tighter, much more tuneful and very pleasant to hear. OK, so they add around half a stone to the overall weight but it's still an easy enough box to tote about and much lighter than either the Technics SA-C05L or the JVC PC-11. Battery life is good and the efficient speakers make up for its lack of output power to the extent that it's amply loud for all but the beach parties and a heavy, one-piece box does for there.
It was more awkward than actually difficult to service as that chassis has to come half apart to release the flywheel thrust muff but it's all nicely built (now) and sounds sweet with the above speaker mods.
Yeah, I think you got a good deal. Think of it so: A big Sanyo for under a ton! Not dear at all, IMHO.
