I guys, I'm new here.
I've had this boombox for a long time, it's kind of just a novelty and fun photo prop, but I like it and I use it sometimes. I found a willie nelson tape recently, put it in, and the gear didn't turn. Lights come on, the thing is engaged, but the gear doesn't turn. Hoping it just had a broken belt I opened it up, and it turns out the motor just doesn't turn. Looks like someone did a kind of sloppy repair on it back in the day.
Local vintage audio repair shop didn't even give me 90 seconds, he just said he wouldn't fix it.
So, I'm a fairly capable DIY guy; I've rebuilt vintage motorcycle engines, and houses. Electronic is not really where my DIY skill thrive, but I'm not a total dummy and I can follow directions. I have a soldering iron, even have access to a de-soldering thingy.
What do you guys think? Anyone got any tips on where to start?
