Last night Jeannie's Grandmother of 93 years old passed away a natural death. She had been getting weaker over the last several months. I have known Jeannie's Gram since we were little since they lived next door to us growing up. She was a very strong lady who was young when the German Army took her from her home in Ukraine. She then managed to escape with her husband and daughter ( Jeannie's mom ) and catch a boat to Brasil where they raised there daughter before moving to USA in 60's. another great part to story was that Jeannie's dad whom was with his parents on same boat to Brasil all met up. Jeannie's parents were both still very young and played together as kids. Jeannie's parents eventually were separated in there teens when Jeannie's Mom, Gram and Grandfather moved to states. Years later Jeannie's dad and uncle also moved to states and her mom and dad eventually found each other, got married and had two beautiful daughters ( Jeannie and Angela). Jeannie's family worked very hard in states to make a better life for themselves. Her grandmother worked 3 jobs in the 70's and 80's to help support family. Her grandfather and dad also worked very hard working many long hours and full weeks with no time off. My dad and Jeannie's dad both had cancer and died one week apart in July of 2005. Both Jeannie's and my grandparents and dads are even buried in same cemetery. I believe all this to be a sign that brought Jeannie and I back together again almost 4 years ago through Facebook. I'm so happy I got to spend the last 4 yrs with Jeannie and her family and especially her gram from whom I remember as a kid chasing Angela and Jeannie with a belt because they were bad  There are so many memories for me about her gram and I'm glad I have them. She was such a wonderful lady that I considered her to be a gram in my life since all my grandparents died before I turned 12 yrs old. I will never forget her and will always love and miss her :-D

Sorry for the loss Bill, it's never easy.
Sounds like you and Jeannie have some wonderful memories and those will always be with you. Just think of that incredible journey that placed you and Jeannie together, obviously Jeannie's Grandma had a huge part in it.

OH NO, BILL!!! So sorry.
When it comes right down to it, it's our family and friends that really make life worth living. God bless you and may you find comfort in your memories after the grief fades.

93 is a grand age to live to and sounds like she had quite the journey in life. Regardless of what age one lives to, it's always a good thing to live the majority of life without pain. I hope this was the case here. :-)

Thanks again everyone. Jeannie is really having a hard time sleeping. She was very close to her grandma, even more so than her mom. She went everywhere with her grandparents including Brazil, Ukraine and Russia as a kid. So she is taking this pretty hard but I am here for her ;-)

Hey Bill, thanks for sharing that story. I know when a person passes it a very sad time, but these are also times to remember and celebrate these peoples lives!
