Awesome forum!
I forgot how much I love messing around with electronics.

I recently repaired a guitar and this boombox is next.

I got it at the thrift store for $15.15 several years ago.

Been using the cd and radio. Freaking awesome sound!

Tape was stuck in deck 2 and deck one was playing fast.

Took it apart and got it freed up and belts back on and was able to get deck 2 working!
Deck one is still playing fast and the pots don’t make a change except for deck one.

Maybe I should take it all the way apart at least..

Any suggestions other than replacing belts?

If it's one of those dual decks where a single motor controls both deck capstans, then the most likely cause of one deck running faster than the other is the pinch rollers. If they slip due to lack of spring tension, glazed surface, turned hard like plastic, etc... then that tape will run faster than it should because the take up reel is pulling the tape past the pinch rollers. If both decks have their own motors, then they will also have their own speed control as well.
