I like its looks :w00t: .Comparing it to old school 1-piece boomers (or even 3-) is "apples to oranges".I think it's nice and sleek (without being rounded). My RX-DT680 is all business and no looks. The 900,by comparison,is much prettier. It looks great with its big chrome rims  I hope to find one soon to evaluate, listen to,or just to display and look at :-D

You should be able to find one at a low price, these are nice but they don't pull the big bucks.

Either way they are art of the "Platinum Series" which sounds sooooooo fantastic. A powerhouse no. Extremely enjoyable...YES!! I have the CT-900.

I have the 650 - cost me £2.50 on eBay

the sound is great
the tuner is a PITA because it is DIGITAL yet has no search function - MADNESS!

I also have a 660 (double cassette - not logic controlled) and it has a worse amp than the 650 and an analogue tuner.

I too have the 900 (as stated earlier the 950 adds remote capability for the tuner only) and it is very good sounding. As long as you aaren't looking for a powerhouse you will not be dissapointed. And yes it, does have whizzer cones. But wheter or not it helps I couldn't tell. :-D

Does any one of you know when the 900 was produced? I have one that i bought new in 1990. Some years later the production stopped when it was replaced by the 980. Now that I look for another one an ebay seller trys to tell me his is about 6 years old. Can that be? Does anyone know when the production started and ended?

By the way, I always loved my 900. It has a clear, warm, bassy sound, in my opinion even better than the 980 sound. The tuner was one of the first digital tuners in boomboxes and didnt work so well when not situated near a station.

I have a Technics folder of 89/90 and there's a RX type on the last page of it
Don't know the exact type , but it seems to have a CD player on top . Same speakers as the CT 900/950, but one tape deck only

Acyually, digital tuners had been around for years before the RX-CT900. ;-)
