...make a hole, people, comin' through :-)

Fantastic pics, as ever.
You selling all of these?

Right let's see now. In order...

3D8 (the first one). Excellent long throw on the 6½ woofer, better build quality with the "1st gens" (3D2, 3D7, 3D8, 3D9), separate motors for each deck, proper line-in. Very loud with bass to match.

The little 3D2 has a sparkling sound & the smaller 4" centre woofer does well up to a point. Careful on the EQ & it's still pretty damn loud.

3D5: stretch the 3D2 & add another woofer, another deck & 2 bands on the EQ & you're there. Very capable considering it's size & those FM presets are *so* cool. (I'd be interested in this one if you were in then UK :-) )

3D30: not my favourite, but sold well due to being the cheapest of the range when available. In a field of 3Ds like this it doesn't shine, but against similarly priced mid-sizers it still out-boomed most.

3D80 (or is it a 3D88?) arguably the ultimate 3D (without a CD player). Flashing lights & all sorts of toys. Twin woofers don't mean twice the bass of the 3D8, but it's still a top flight 3D.

3Ds generally have manual decks, they concentrate on boom for your buck - which is what boomers are all about for me.
However, the servo deck on the 3D9 is the best deck on any 3D & the front panel is lovely. The twin centre woofers are no JVC Hyper-Bass beater, but the smooth "grown-up" sound & unusual looks make this a good 3D choice. It also has line in with it's own gain control (not seen that anywhere else), phono-in, Dolby on the deck (only 3D with this too).

...& then we come to my personal favourite; the 3D7 (aka TRK7620). This was the very first 3D (1985-6) & one of the first boomers with an extra woofer (the first one I saw, back then). Sound is on a par with the 3D8 (i.e. as good as it gets for a 3D). This boomer lacks proper aux-in (as does the 3D2), the EQ only adjusts +/- 6dB (more usual is +/-10dB) & only a single deck, but will you just *look* at the thing. Perfect proportions, massive side grab-handles... lovely.
Also, I can personally vouch that a set of 8 D cells last absolutely ages in a 3D7, woofer on, playing tapes at high volumes.

...all IMHO, of course :-)

Yes, there are a fair few more. Hound me for long enough & I'll get off my 4rse & take some decent photos... :-)

Yes. Yes they do :-) Sure they're not the last word in quality, like top stuff from Aiwa, JVC, Panasonic, etc. but they were alot cheaper than those. With 3Ds, you're talking honest, maximum boom for your buck radios. Pick wisely & you'll be pleasantly surprised.
...& a bit more deaf :-D
