Was listening yesterday on NPR about this drum machine that really changed the sounds since the early 80's and may still be in use by today's artists. There's even a movie or documentary about it. Pretty cool machine and these don't go cheap on ebay. Roland only built around 12 thousand of these.

Great machine from the 80's that Roland 808. Some great tunes from the 80's came out of that, including Boogie Down Bronx (by Man Parrish). Great song.

I have bought and sold numerous 808s . They are amazing . Most vintage analog gear from Roland is awesome .
The second video shows a tr8 the latest Roland drum machine. It can sound sort of like a 808 but, not quite.
There's a few companies making clones of the 808 that are really good.
I was always partial to the 909 . I no longer own a 808 they are hard to find now. I got one of the ones I owned from a country music studio that went down .
The two biggest songs of the 808 era are probably Michael Jacksons Billy Jean and Martin Gaye's sexual healing. I seem to think the billy ocean Caribbean queen was another.
it's really strange to see a lot of companies issuing old school gear again. Roland has refused to reissue the 808.
There official policy seems to be honouring the past but moving forward.
It's their prerogative.
the documentary was pretty good .
Hope your all well.

Best 808 tune ever...
I would have to agree 100% on this T-Ster. That was the tune that was loved by all B-boys in the NYC!

How I truly miss those times hangin' in the streets of NYC with my boomers.

Yep, or even 15 years ago on ebay they were cheap. I himmed and hawed as well on that and the 909. Foresight is 20/20.

The 808 kick-drum makes the girlies get dumb..mixalot

It's a real shame Roland have dragged their feet on the Analog synth revival, Korg are well ahead.

I'm on the lookout for a Roland MC 303, 505 or even 808 if anyone has one...90's gear, but easier to get hold of and many of the classic sounds on board.

Yep, but that will be the next thing for the prices to go through the roof! Get it while you can

Damn Slo that video is off the chain!! :breakdance:

Just wish the world would live in unity with music.

Instead of hate and war lets all dance and enjoy life because when we die what the hell did we get out of it by spending our precious time on this earth hating & killing people. This has been going on for ages and what has it proven?

NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
