replacin heads on a sharp 767?

bless everyone, both tape heads are pretty worn out, so i need to replace em.. any ideas on were/what to buy? other options? general advice?

I would try polishing them first. If you have stereo sound this is maybe all you need. If you have lost one channel completely I would salvage one from another parts box.

You should clean them then demagnetize

A worn out tape head will show a depression that looks like a pit. This cannot be cleaned. I have never heard about polishing, leveling and get best results. So basically you grind it and smooth it out?
That is news to me.

Polishing works to clean oxidation but won't fix a worn tape head if it has too many hours on it...

Polishing is just cleaning the contact surface on the head.

When glass/ferrite heads came this machine went out of business.
