Replace internal power supply D8443 recommendations

Hello,
I bought a used D8443 and am looking to replace the internal power supply with something small, modern and maybe encapsulated as I rebuild it with modern components. The rebuild will include a modern small amp (replacing the huge faulty board) and new modern speakers (replacing broken ones.) Anyone have suggestions for a small, modern and maybe encapsulated power supply that I could solder in to the existing AC power plug and give me 12 volts DC and good current (amps) draw? Maybe I could just take apart a wall wart AC power adapter?
I plan to add a fuse and switch.

A cheap solution is to use an old laptop charger they have high current output and this is external to the box then you can use all the space for speakers and amp.
