Hey Guys,

Today I am heading to the American Cancer Society's RELAY FOR LIFE 24 hour walk. I went last year to support some of my friends.

Basically, teams raise money through relay walking for 24 hours straight. The money raised goes to Cancer research. My friends team is MILESTONES AND MEMORIES.

Like last year, my plan is to go down and do what we here on Boomboxery do best...bring a Blaster and supply some tunes!

This year I will be bringing my M70, mostly because it's super loud and has a strap. I plan on walking with my radio to show support!

If you would like to donate money to the cause you can do so at: MILESTONES AND MEMORIES.

I will be representing Boomboxery and Blasters everywhere by sweating it out, it is over 90 degrees today and it's going to be a tough one carrying the M70....but it's a good cause!

If you do donate, mark in the comments it came from Boomboxery!

Pictures from the event to come!

Hey Guys,

Yeah, been drinking lots of water...no beer today

I will have bruises on both shoulders for sure!

Here is an update of pictures....

The team members are taking turns walking laps...it's well into the 90 degree territory...I have walked every lap with the M70! You would be proud...sweating like a pig!

I'm switching to the Toshiba RT-S84 for the next set of laps!

THANK YOU IRA!

Well guys.....this was a LONG DAY OF BLASTING....and for the others at this event....it's not over till tomorrow!

The Relay For Life is a 24 hour 10am to 10am relay walk. Teams raise money, set up tents and a booth and represent family members they have lost to Cancer. They then proceed to walk around a high school track for 24 hours!

I want to thank those of you who donated money, you know who you are. I was told by the team captain that she did receive cell phone notifications of donations from members here that mentioned Boomboxery in their info.

TOP WORK GUYS! THANK YOU!

Unlike Team Milestones and Memories, I showed up around 1pm and walked till 10pm. Merely 9 hours out of 24 but I want you all to know I did all of it with a blaster!

The news said it was going to be in the 90's today, it ended up being 101 degrees F. Thankfully there was a light breeze.

I did go home for dinner and grab another radio.

I said before I was going to take the Toshiba, but I ended up taking the TRC-935.

As the sun was going down, I was making laps around the track cranking some classic rock and pop and I had about 12 people in a pack behind me rocking out enjoying the music. They had a PA system blaring music, but not everyone liked it so they were rocking with me!

I was stopped a few times to pose for pictures with people. One girl told me she had a friend with an old radio in the garage and she was begging her friend to sell it too her....I thought it was cool that she really saw the value in it.

I have to say, I'm worn out! I walked the M70 with 10 Duracell's on a strap and then the 935 with 10 D's with my new strap from Blu_Fuzz that lets me use ANY radio with a strap....Worked killer. The strap ends GRIP the Lasonic's handle ends and really takes all the fear out of using it.....But I can tell you, both my shoulders are totally bruised! They are RAW! That many hours with a 30+ lbs radio hanging from the should leaves a mark!

So, to answer that question....that's the farthest I have walked with a radio since high school.

Thank you again Boomboxery! :-D

Congratulations Chris :hooray: . You are THAMAN! I wish I had seen this post sooner, I would've donated. But I too will be doing Our area's relay for life very soon. Maybe I should roll the Wheely around behind Me with it's wheels locked out. :-D That way I don't get raw shoulders.
