Rebuilding Handle Screw Posts For GF-9696?!

Hi,is there a post or could someone give me a good method to
build up my broken handle screw posts for my 9696??!

Mine are busted down about 1.5" or so,I need to build them up without
it getting to messy or just using a hunk of plastic.
I can always drill the pilot screw hole a little smaller than the screw
when I'm done to make this handle go in.
I know some of you have done this and yes I have JB Weld.
I need to finish this project!!

That's exactly what I'm going to do to!
Was it for your handle screw posts? If yes what size brass tube did you
use? I'm sure if I bring the screw and I know the post size is about
20-25% bigger than the head of the screw.
Going to get that tomorrow.

Was the main bodywork screw posts rather than the handle, had to rebuild several but they were rock solid once done

I did get some 1/4" PVC pipe because the brass or copper is hard to
cut,well harder than PVC. That was 1/4"'also,it's a little big so
I think when I was at Lowe's(all we have in town)so I'm thinking there
was a 3/8" or 1/8" as this is for the smaller handle screw studs.

I should have bought the smaller today also.

Where did you all get yours but I bet your using the 1/4" size?!
I'll be so happy when I fix these!!

Hi Jeff,

I would stay with the copper or brass pipe. It is so easy to cut it with a hacksaw blade. It is pure fun.

Hi Royce,I may do that but will need the 3/16"' instead of 1/4".

1/4"'copper tubing was the answer! I've successfully bridged
the gap and have brought the height of the broken handle screw studs
up to height!
Now tomorrow I fill In the tube with JB and then another 24 hour weight
and I can drill the pilot holes and then screw in the screws with a little
JB on the screw bottom to give it some extra hold.
So happy that the end is near.Still ordering belts but at least the speakers
will be going back in.

Absolute success on the handle screw stud repair!! Handle
has been installed and fits perfect and tight!! Seems better than original!!

Sorry,no photos as I only have dial-up at my friends!! :annoyed:

But I have taken photos.
Speakers are all in and now just belts and to add a little to one of the
rubber feet on the bottom.
I see a light at the end of the tunnel on this one!!
