Rearranged Collection

Well, I recently added my repaired GE Blockbuster (now working fully) and my Aiwa Backtrack to my collection. After I was done rearranging things, I sat back and looked at them all.

I'm not sure if anyone else has thought this and I know my collection is small compared to some...but as I sat there looking at everything, I couldn't help but to think:

"Oh no! I have a boombox collecting problem". :'-(

In some ways I think it's awesome but then I wonder if I also might need help..

Other than a few I have out, my refurbed boxes are all wrapped up and in closets so I don't really see them.
If I had them displayed like yours, I'd probably think I have a problem.
It's an out of sight, out of mind kind of thing.

My wife surprised me with the shelves for Christmas. She got tired of me playing with my toys and leaving them everywhere for us to trip over..lol. This used to be the dog room. When she passed, I turned it into my boom room.

Unless a studio 1 comes up for a good deal, I have to be done. I have no more shelf left 8-)

Oh and it’s not unusual to get bored with certain models after awhile. At that point, sell an M70 or C100 or something to make room for something else to provide the “spice” in your life.

You are so right. Each and every one of these radios at one point I fell asleep listening to. The ones I have taken apart and got working I enjoy the most. The little GE Blockbuster being the most recent radio I got back together, is getting a workout now. I always feel like they owe me a little enjoyment after the struggle is over.

I do have a radio in mind to sell but I'm not sure anyone wants it. Nothing wrong with it. It does everything it's supposed to do. I even have the box and everything. If I could clear 150 after shipping I would be happy with that. It's the GPO Brooklyn. It doesn't do anything for me. It looks good but I never use it.

That's not how I do it, the second I lay my hands on one, everybody's gonna know, I get that some people like to keep them away from people, but I like to give mine a whole new life

I think you have a very nice collection of classic and new boomboxes.
You have arranged them very well on those shelves.
I wish you many good times in the future.
Enjoy life, because you have only one...

Reminds me of walking into a audio store in the 80's and drooling at the shelves of boomboxes for sale. What a display to come home to!

Thank you brother.

I suggest to remove the wheels and keep the base firm on ground.
There many heavy weights above, including a M90 and RX-7000 on top.
I agree. I can't imagine how gutted I would feel for it to fall over. I don't even want to think about it.

I know what you mean! Never move the shelves with the boombox collection!

Those wheels are the best type and helps a lot!

I bought those from SAM'S club like 15 years ago and it worked so well! My son uses those shelves in his garage.

Now mine are all on wooden shelves with boomboxes put sideways covered in plastic, so it is hard to display the front face. Now I have too many to display like this.

Looks awesome
Thanks man! I try to have a little bit of everything. Old school big and small and a few decent sounding modern boxes. I have hinted to my wife that I would like a huge wall poster for Christmas to go behind them that adds more character but I am not sure what I want. A brick wall, maybe with graffiti or something else. I need to look at a few others setup to see what I like.
