Realistic brand - Original catalogues

In researching an early cassette player I had , I found all of the old RadioShack catalogs online. It is interesting to look at the evolution of electronics, original costs, and "NEW for 'x year to show the launch years. I used to drool over the radios on those catalogs and AD's.
Believe it or not my pops good friend owned a TV repair slash retail store so could get any box as long as I had the money which I didn't , I bagged and pleaded to my mom for a boombox till I finally got one lol.

Interesting that the SCR-6 was considered "our best portable", even though the SCR-8 is bigger and sounds way better.

yeh Reli I thought that too when looking at the prices, weird, even the model numbers give it away.

Those catalogs were so loaded with cool toys I never could get enough, I never got tired of looking through them.

My first "boombox" 1978. I was 7. Oddly I just picked it up in excellent shape on ebay for $30 the other day. Excellent value retention. Sound - not so much.

These were all local stores which were not world wide

Nah, "poverty" was more like Amstrad, Audiosonic, Citizen, Emerson, Saisho, Unisef, and Yorx

Realistic was mid-priced
