Fun site, isn't it? :-)
I love looking through the really old issues, hard to believe how much audio gear went for decades ago.

I used to drool over the radios on those catalogs and AD's.
Believe it or not my pops good friend owned a TV repair slash retail store so could get any box as long as I had the money which I didn't , I bagged and pleaded to my mom for a boombox till I finally got one lol.

Interesting that the SCR-6 was considered "our best portable", even though the SCR-8 is bigger and sounds way better.

yeh Reli I thought that too when looking at the prices, weird, even the model numbers give it away.

My first "boombox" 1978. I was 7. Oddly I just picked it up in excellent shape on ebay for $30 the other day. Excellent value retention. Sound - not so much.Screenshot_20200116-184826_Photos.jpg

Nah, "poverty" was more like Amstrad, Audiosonic, Citizen, Emerson, Saisho, Unisef, and Yorx

Realistic was mid-priced
