Gang, here's some pics of my rare Realistic SCR-1 - Model No. 14-771, Made in Japan.
It is fully functioning including tape and cosmetically a 9/10.
For those who may not know, the SCR-1 was Radio Shack's "First Official Boombox" that came out way back in 1978.
Anyone know what it is worth ? There isnt much info on it on the net.
I love how well this lil boomer is made. Looks great too ! :breakdance:

That is a really cool looking boomer. The gray/black clean lines of it makes it fun.

Nice buy.

How does it sound?

It sounds very loud. I DONT EVEN HAVE IT AT 9 OCLOCK ON THE DIAL! :-O
Its not the boomiest or cleanest sound though as it only uses 4" woofers.

:agree: Very nice specimen. Diggin' on that late-70's look, which I like.

I love Realistics, especially one piece Modulaires.

What is a ceramic cartridge changer?...
A ceramic cartridge has the same output level as the output from another auxiliary source; tape deck, CD player, etc. so what they're saying is that you can hook up a record changer but that one with a moving magnet cartridge won't have sufficient output - which is where a phono input would be used instead.
Saying that, I can't think of a changer with a magnetic cartridge, even the high end Hacker and Dynatron record players stuck with ceramic carts on their - Garrard or, in some very late models inferior BSR - changers, only the single play models would later come with magnetic cartridges, Goldring G800s with (cheap) spherical stylii usually.
