I have 3 8989s, and 1 SCR8..and I love them. My SCR8 has some rattling and static issues right now and I forgot how it really sounds. I remember listening to joe or skippys blockbuster and remember being very impressed with it.
So...for those of you that have or have heard all 3...rank em in order. Im pretty sure theyre all pretty comparable by size and sound. I need your input.

I have an SCR-8 and a 8989. I would put the SCR-8 above the 8989, its not a louder sound but it is a better sound kind of more room filling. I prefer the looks of the realistic also.

Ive never heard a Blocky but I hear they are much the same as the SCR-8.

I`ve never heard the Blockbuster, but the 8989 and SCR-8 are very similar sounding.

The 8989 can crank way louder than the SCR8/BLKBSTR but doesn't have as much bass at the lower volumes. This cassette deck is FAR superior/more reliable than the other 2 boxes.

The blockbuster has the best bass of the 3 but wobbles out and distorts way too early (different woofers than the SCR8). The dual VUs are bad ass when those get swinging but they need an LED upgrade like the M70 has available.

The SCR8 is more of a rock box and doesn't have the best bass and isn't the loudest of the 3 but it is more balanced for all around listening. AND it has the fantastic LED VUs

Well said Joe. You are so right on.

About a month ago I really started cranking my radios and have noticed that they have such different sounds. Some that really sounded good low sound like crap cranked (blocky). and others that sound like crap low don't start to shine till cranked (like the m50 for example..). And then you have others like the 490 that just sound good at any volume

No prob. I've had all 3 and the only one I kept was the SCR8

You sure you didn't forget to turn down the bass when you cranked the Blockbuster? I'm sure it could be just as loud as the 8989 if you set it up properly. And the SCR8 does have cool LED's but it doesn't have those badass black speakers with chrome caps like the Blockbuster

The 8989 has less depth than the Blockbuster IMO

By that I mean bass...

Wow - I havent tried any of them. I wish I knew the difference.
