very heavy and solid radios he said the used them on the sea and in the desert, very long aerials maybe 3m and thick as a thumb

great post.
i am still hoping to find a transo .

guess what
i have that exact candle with the nice multi color lights on the fast.
its a really nice looking radio. gets decent reception as well.
mine is also mint.

that last radio labeled a grundig tank is made by zenith. it is not a grundig

I'd love it if there was a radio museum like that round the corner from me, I'd wander in with my GF-777Z and say "Whaddaya thinka this?" :-D

To be honest I'm not really a fan of those early Roberts-type radios, but I do appreciate their designs. Cool museum! :yes:
