The Weather Channel's Severe Weather Expert, Dr. Greg Forbes (Facebook | Twitter) developed the TOR:CON index to estimate the risk of a tornado on a given day or night near your area.
(MORE: What is TOR:CON?)

Watch what a tornado can do

TOR:CON Value Descriptions
8+ Very high probability of a tornado
6 - High probability of a tornado
4 - Moderate chance of a tornado nearby, but hail and/or high wind gusts possible
2 - Low chance of a tornado, but hail and/or high wind gusts possible
0 - Near-zero chance of a tornado or a severe thunderstorm
The TOR:CON index ranges from 0 to 10. Multiply the value by 10 to get your chance of a tornado within 50 miles of a location. For example, a TOR:CON index of 6 means there's a 60% chance of a tornado within 50 miles of a location (for example, southern Kansas).
For more on all severe thunderstorm threats, including damaging winds and large hail, check our severe weather tracker page.
Note: By definition, a severe thunderstorm contains one or more of the following: hail at least 1 inch in diameter, wind gusts 58 mph or higher, or a tornado.

Saturday Overnight, Dec. 21-22
Still damaging wind gusts and isolated tornadoes across south OH, southwest PA, central and east KY, western WV, middle and east TN, northwest GA, east MS, north and west AL. TORCON - 6 east KY, east half TN; 3 to 4 rest of area

TOR:CON SATURDAY NIGHT:

AL north half - 6
AL south half - 5

We got over a foot of snow between yesterday and today in Chicago and more is on the way.

I just made a 5' pile on the side of my long drive way.

It looks like I am in Boston, Massachusetts! :w00t:

Few glasses of red wine keeps me warm operating my snow blower. I also need fuel!
Thanks to my old Craftsman two stage 18 HP snow blower that I bought in 1998 with self start.
It still works like a charm. I use Mobil 5W/30 synthetic oil in it, use it for two seasons, Shell mid level gas and always and new plugs every year.

My next one will be a HONDA. I just love that snow blower!

:-D I thought they stood for "Today's weather is brought to you by Ninja warriors." Or maybe it's so hot that it'll burn the buttons off your favourite Ben Sherman.

I just measure the weather by how many fence panels are still standing.
Its been nothing but rain and wind in southern England for weeks.

This explains the number of Sassenach immigrants we now have around by here  , this end of Northumberland has great weather, adventurous women and very nervous sheep but best of all, we can send our kids to either Scottish or English schools, register with Scottish GPs and so get free prescriptions, do our shopping VAT-free if we pretend to be passing through and swim naked in public places every third Tuesday between March and October.
I may have exaggerated the nervousness of the sheep, they love it really.

I'm back over at the coast today, preparing for work reopening next week, the weather here is slightly less warm than it is over in Gala:
