three of the best cars i ever owned were ponchos.
the 1960 stratochief is still a car i lament getting rid of. the 1967 2+2 was another one i loved very much. wide track pontiacs where just super cool.
i even get nostalgic for the 1965 parisienne i had even tho it was a four door it was still a beautiful car.

Bill, there was this old lady that lived in the same apartment complex where I lived once in Mountain View, California that had a 1966 (red with white interior) Pontiac Catalina... Ho my lord..... she only drove it like on Sundays.... you can imagine how SWEET it was...... I'd be asking every month if she wanted to sell it..... never could convince her.... damn that was a ride!

pontiac made some great cars. unfortunately as time progressed they became more homogenized with the other gm offerings until in the end it was just a matter of trim bumpers and decals.
i think that it is ironic north americans once made fun of the former ussr for only offering a limited selection of items. however it would seem today our choices for goods produced domestically are less and less all the time.

Hey now, are they still around in Australia as of today? They've got the right idea down under - you could get a 351 Cleveland engine in a Ford until like 1985 there.

I had a buddy show up at my house the other day; hadn't seen him in like 8 years. He just told me he'd call when he got to my street - and I saw a red Miata pull up. I was so sad.

But then my friend actually showed, driving a black-on-black Firebird :)
