I take medicine for my phobias      See Im even bi-polar in my posts..... :-O :w00t:

Seriously my phobias involve dealing with people or large groups and with pressure and wondering what people think of me or that Im not doing something good enough.. been at same job 18 years and constantly worry today/tomorrow may be the last...BOOMBOX selling spree if it happens :'-(

I take Citalopram 60mg and that seems to help witha side dose of Xanax to further negotiate the mood!

I have that one too!! I've been at the same job 15 yrs. Since the economy is tough, companies are not treating their employees well at all. :annoyed:

I used to be afraid of spiders, but I moved into an old house that was infested with them. :-O I got over that phobia real fast!

I have a fear of very confined spaces (like crawl-spaces and such). This is especially true if my movement is limited while in them, and the space is under a building or underground. :grim:

i used to think / be kinda schizo when i was younger,

around 21, and even tried psychiatrist and pills,

but after some months on some stuff, i told him,

hey , this isnt for me.

' youre a normal kid ' he said.

i gave up the pills and never touched them again.

go figure.

My phobias

1. Home repair/improvement contractors.
2. Fainting while I'm giving a speech.
3. Driving near an airport when a plane is taking off or landing right over my head. I'm afraid it'll fall on me.
4. Getting into a cornfield maze and not being able to find my way out: http://www.farmercharleys.com/
5. "The imposter syndrome," where on the job I have the fear that I'm faking my way through my work, and someone will eventually find out.
6. Hypodermic needles.
7. I insist on driving with at least one car window cracked open, even when it's cold or raining, out of fear of not getting enough oxygen if all the windows are closed up tight. (A form of claustrophobia, I think.)
8. The flying monkeys in The Wizard of Oz.
9. Going to parties and being forced to have conversations with people I don't know.
9a. Going to parties and being forced to have conversations with people I know.
10. Anesthesia. What if I don't wake up?
11. Being on the toilet in the middle of a big, public, open room.
12. Enclosed water park sliding tubes.
13. The old Indian TV test pattern: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File: ... attern.JPG
14. Birthday clowns.
15. Most of the city of Detroit.

Honorable Mention: My recurring dream that I forgot to go to a class for an entire semester and now there's a test.

I dont see it.... I do not drink and take the xanax and its only for a quick fix - the citalopram is what works the majority of the time - it takes me a month to go through 30 xanax.... (the bottle says take 3 a day - geesh, there no way!)

I dont think I have any irrational fears.
Although maybe I just haven't been in a situation that draws the fear, but I doubt it.
I mean, fear of heights is a survival instinct. for example rollercoasters., I dont see why people would be afraid of them. They are built for fun and millions of people ride them every day without incedent save for heart attacks and such.
But put me on the face of a cliff, or top edge of a skyscraper with no safegaurds, then yes my gut would sink and knees would be wobbly. :-D

Spiders and bugs??? C'mon! We're 1000 times bigger than them. If they really bother you just smush them with a finger, and it will be all over.
Snakes same thing, unless they are huge that drop down from trees(BTW always look up if in a jungle) or venomous, you can always kill em.

There is something that worries me :hmmm: , When people dont react in emergency situations.
or freeze up. For instance, I was at a bar and this dude with another party just fell from a bar stool and turned grey on the floor.
Everybody kind of just stared at him not doing anything. I was with my girl in a booth having drinks and I said somethings wrong with that dude. so I went up to him to check it out. I looked up and said WTF somebody call an ambulance. I put a jacket under his head and checked for a pulse, he was cold as ice and his eyes were dialated. I slapped the **** out of him to get a response, then all you heard were gasps and cries from the crowd. finally we got a response from the dude and you could see him changing colors. When he came to you could tell he was out of it. ambulance came and it turned out he had some medical issues that cause this. Nobody did **** to help hiim. Thats quite disconcerning to me.
I think it's the mentality that if there are a lot of people that somebody else will help so people just look away.

I ran into the same situation with fatal car accidents when I witnessed them and tried to help survivors if any. I've seen some grussome ****, and it sucks when you have to convince people to help you. Those images don't leave. :-/

Sorry for the long post, I didnt think it would be quite this long, but it got me thinking...
