Hi, first of all let me tell you what an amazing forum you've built here, you've given me confidence to try to fix a boombox myself, although my expertise is more focused on old videogame systems
I've gotten myself a Philips D8434 boombox, everything works fine apart from the take-up spool when it's on play mode and it ends up chewing the tapes (luckily I've tested it with a Manolo Escobar tape, here you can kick a rock and thousands of them will come out flying). Fast forward and reverse work as a charm. Thing is, I've dissasembled the mechanism and I can't find a way for the cogs to engage for the take-up spool to spin. Maybe it has something to do with the pincher being dirty, I've cleaned it thouroughly with no luck.
Reading in these forums I've found sometimes there's a solenoid somewhere in the tape mechanism, but so far no electronic components. The wheels and the belt look ok to me, a little loose but I don't know if that has something to do with my problem.
I've attached a couple of pictures to see if any of you have any idea of how I can repair this dang thing. Thank you so much!
