Paying for feedback?

Hey guys,

I made a purchase on Ebay(non boombox) a few weeks back. I noticed after the sale that the seller had a very vague shipping time listed, "buyer will usually ship within 15 days" so I waited patiently. After 18 days I hadn't seen any shipping info so I contacted the seller and asked when it would be shipped. She stated that Ebay had made a mistake in the listing and it should have read: "usually ships within 21 days" She then added that she gets the item from a distributor and she doesn't know if he has the item anymore and she'll check with him the following day. I opened a claim with Ebay because it all seemed a bit underhanded.

The next day Ebay sends me an email saying that the buyer refunded the money. Shortly after I received an email from the seller asking for positive feedback. The truth was she never contacted me and didn't even have the item she sold me. She had my money tied up for almost 3 weeks. So I left negative feedback that properly corresponded to the way the transaction was handled. The seller sent me an email asking me to revise the feedback to positive. I didn't. She then sent me the following email " Shame on you. My momma always told me what comes around goes around." Then today I get an email saying she will pay me $15. if I change my feedback to positive???? Has anybody ever dealt with anything like this? I'm not changing my feedback, it was fair and honest. Also, I believe that feedback shouldn't be bought it should be earned! I've purchased over 200 items on Ebay and never left negative feedback but I feel like I would betray the trust of others if I wasn't honest.

Correct, contact eBay since that's not permitted. That's the only way future buyers will know a 100% is truly 100% and not the product of buying a good feedback ratio.

I agree with the above...

There are too many people begging for positive feed back and not working to give positive service.

I have 100% feedback because I work HARD for it. I read peoples feedback and I can tell the difference between a bitchy customer and a crummy seller.

So wrong for them to offer money for good feedback. This is not a good seller, so the feedback you gave them should reflect that.

Some trivialize feedback scores but at the end of the day it is rather important to those that sell on eBay. I sell on eBay and I can tell you that there are some wackos out there for whom I have to work very hard to make sure the transaction goes smoothly. Sometimes we are even held hostage to good feedback by the buyer and there's not a dang thing we can do about it. It has been said many a time but I'll say it again.......eBay is way more pro buyer than they are seller. Now....you get a "warning" that your buyer will be notified if you offer anything over 2 day turnaround for items listed. WTF?

I personally wouldn't have left them any feedback.. Obviously they didn't earn any positive feedback, but they didn't really earn any negative feedback either.. I'd leave negative feedback if no money was returned and completely ripped off..

What kind of seller has to wait 21 days to ship? I've never seen that before. Even if he had to special-order the item from China, he still could have gotten it in only 7 days or so.

There's too many people with 100% feedback. It's a bunch of bull. That's like giving everyone a 4.0 GPA.

^ that's true too. I have done the same thing with sellers. It's all up to you.
