Picked this up off of the internet for a decent price. Didn't really 'need' it but loved the styling and couldn't pass it up. Everything works except the CD which will spin up but won't read the disc. The sound is superb, very crisp and clean. Even though it is plasticy, it is very solidly built and the controls are first rate and not at all flimsy. I know this is one of the first CD Boomboxes but did they sell a lot of these? I had never seen one before I saw this one and I am always looking at boxes on Ebay, etc.

Wow, what a beasty looking box - that thing must have cost a shed load back in the day.
15 volt box with 11 watts RMS per channel!

Very rare model!

Nice find!!

^ ^ ^ I agree that this was probably very expensive in it's day and looks quite sophisticated for it's time. I think most CD models of this period went for a front loading 'right in yer face' CD player rather than a more discreet top-loader? I've had something like this on my mental wish list for some time, it's just not a priority right now. Nice find, I like it.

Yeah,I like it too.Pretty rare model.Don't remember seeing one back in the day.Maybe get a lens cleaning CD and try that to see if it'll read discs and play'em again.

Yeah ralrein, I think I will try the lens cleaner trick and see if that helps. It probably wouldn't hurt to have one of those around anyway for my others CD players. Is there a good one that really does the job? And yes, I looked it up at the box originally sold for $600 in 1985 so that was a good chunk of change back then.

Sorry to take so long to get back to you. You know I bought one by Endust for Electronics. At the local Big Lots store and used it on my Panasonic rx-dt600. It worked farking great. Now it plays CDs like a champ. Wasn't pricey at all. The item or part number is 262000. It says its also good for DVD and Blu-ray lenses too. They also have a website endustelectronics.com ,hope this helps you out.
