Out with the Band

So this past weekend, my band and another band hit the road for some shows. I ended up doing a little experiment...

Since space was tight, I ended up bringing the GE I got from Reli last weekend. I wrapped it in a towel, put it in my suitcase and packed clothes in around it.

After the first nights show, both bands went back to the hotel to celebrate a great show (as we do )

So, 8 guys and 3 fans were in the hotel room, everyone talking about the show. After about 20 minutes, one of the guys from the other band starts playing music from his phone (gawd I hate the way those sound ). It only took a moment for my bass player to say "Gee Chris, I'm shocked you didn't bring a radio" which was followed by my drummer saying "Yeah, this dude always has a radio with him". Then someone says, "Sure would be nice to have some tunes".

I actually wanted to just SEE what would happen as opposed to pulling out my radio and just doing what I do.

I then just smiled and said, "Who says I didn't "

I pulled out the little GE and it performed PERFECTLY, Plugged my phone into it and streamed the TUNE IN radio app on the channel "THRASH ZONE" from Germany (it's my fav)

As you all know, the party started that very second!

I love this little radio, These have full sound, they're just not big Volume Monsters, but in a Hotel room at 1am, I didn't need BIG volume, just quality sound.....and I will say it again....PERFECT

Chris after all the times you've saved the party with a boomer hasn't any of your band mates caught on to the coolness and bought there own?

The use of a phone as a boombox is ridiculous, I've seen this more than once and it's pathetic.

As far as people using phones When I hear them, the sound just pisses me off.

Apple may have made the mp3 player and smart phone available to the masses, but they also set the bar for sound quality so F'n low that now this has become the standard THANKS cAPPLE

Sad part is these cell phone blasters don't realize what good sound quality is, they think their phone sounds good and the sound bar in front of their TV that they are streaming their phone to sounds outrageously good.

What happened to good HiFi stereo sound, did everybody go dumb with the advent of the damn iPod?

True! At least the walkman didn't replace the home stereo it just augmented it, the new generation of kids and young adults only know iPods and cellphones.

man one day i had some hot girls asking me about my mangled ass rx 5025 work radio , i was shocked and awed by the interest in my beat up paint splattered panasonic , i was working at their house and was rockin' out and they came down and went crazy over my work box , who cares it was sweet .

i actually told them i'm a collector and that was my worse and almost smallest box and that i had around 30 more bigger and nicer radio's they were like wtf the next day i brought my trc 918 but of course there was not a soul around top see it :annoyed: , prolly better off i'm too old t have my blood pressure up like that trying to talk boomboxes to a bunch of teeny boppers while i'm cutting holes in the ceiling ain't exactly the picture of cool lol.

hell i coulda scored like beavis and butthead with that one and believe it or not that panny was one of my first units aside from a transistor radio .
