forgot to tell you guys -
back in 94 or 95 --i read the road & track test drive of the prototype of the
special order firebird FIREHAWK --they did 0-60 in under 5 sec- which was qwik for those days-
especially for a FULL SIZE 4 seater
so i got on the wait list and got the first one in florida -
amazing car -
and it REALLY did capture the old 60's big block vette sound -- beastly at least !!
=================
but no matter what was ' back in the day '
jimmys Z06 is faster - cant wait to drive that suka
For 30 years the late '60's through '72 muscle cars ruled the land, both in actual speed and in our memories. But now they seem as if they are standing still. I don't know how much faster cars could possibly get before humans start reaching some physical limit, but I think with the dawn of the electric car, we will see much faster machines coming. The fact that the Tesla Model S P100 4 door sedan is the 3rd fastest car on the planet says it all. It pull's 10.70's on the drag strip all day long UNMODIFIED, with only the Porsche 918 and the La Ferrari being faster. Since Tesla isn't even putting any effort into trying to make the car as light as possible by having a full carbon fiber chassis or lightened interior components, you would have to think, when companies like Mclaren or Jaguar decide to go after that segment of the market, who knows what kind of numbers you will be talking about. What is the actual limit? What is simply "Too Fast"? When do people blackout behind the wheel? Simply insane!

agree chris --all those old muscle car were just loud gas eatin slow pigs compared to right now
electric motors have instant full torque -
so even a golf cart with the ample battery output can beat most gas cars off the line

also agree that most drivers wont have the reactions to control the steering on a sub 3 second car

and yes TESLA is the BIG bomb !!

us collector //aesthetic //artistic guys also put some serious value in pure LOOKS

the first shot was my 65 289 aluminum cobra -
and even more classic beautiful than that was this ( not mine ) old jaguar XK 150 ...drooooooooooll

there will always be sweet place for these older // slightly slower models
