i so loved my silver 67 427//435HP tripower vette couupe // muncie 4 speed -it came new from the factory without the big side-pipes-
and i removed ( temporarily) the 427 emblems on the hood .. so it was sort of a sleeper.
it always got ecstatic whenever we saw a long steep hill ahead of us on any highyway-
no matter what the grade slope was - it would explode from 60 to 100++ in a few seconds -
always felt like we could wipe ANY porsche or ferrari --while towing a bus UPHILL !!!

years later - i sold it for a brand new extremely quick factory turbo pick up truck = GMC Cyclone ...
that was off-the-line fast - but NO sound and fury and glory of the big block vette

Still rocking the car shows with that beautiful piece of art!!!!!

I've seen it in person, you almost go 'dumb' looking at every bit that has been pulled off for paint, chrome, and detail work. Just a nasty clean beast of a machine.

wow that was some car Ira but removing the badges didn't help to a true car guy you know when you hear a 427 coming....... and as for the cyclone that was an amazing truck fast as hell from the factory but in my hands with a little tweak on the waste gate and external boost controller ... you could have had Vette's Ferrari for lunch dinner and breakfast that all wheel drive was a mother f$&?er off the line

jimmy - you are so right about the cyclone --with those 4 huge factory fat fat fat tires-
nothing i had ever driven could grip like that -
it was instant // non slip 0-60

I remember the Cyclone, those were the faster vehicles of their time. Super low production numbers too. You had some fun cars Ira.

forgot to tell you guys -
back in 94 or 95 --i read the road & track test drive of the prototype of the
special order firebird FIREHAWK --they did 0-60 in under 5 sec- which was qwik for those days-
especially for a FULL SIZE 4 seater
so i got on the wait list and got the first one in florida -
amazing car -
and it REALLY did capture the old 60's big block vette sound -- beastly at least !!
=================
but no matter what was ' back in the day '
jimmys Z06 is faster - cant wait to drive that suka
