Okay, so I got an e-mail from this guy named Matt Hoffman from California. He wrote:

really, how about a 'register button?

I was somewhat taken by surprise as there is a link on the home page that states "Not a member? Register here".

Then, apparently Matt saw the link and had problems with the registration math test. He wrote:

A**hole, my f***ing IQ is 150, and your piece of sh*t captcha will not

the correct info to sell a JVC 656 Boombox, tough sh*t for you and your
loser poster that wanted it. Ebay it is. F***ing tosser.

Revamp your site so it's useful

LOL!     Not wanting to let an opportunity like this go to waste, I wrote back to Matt:

My dearest Matt,

Thank you for the comedic relief you have offered for me today. I was having a dreary day until I read your rather entertaining correspondence.

Congratulations on having an IQ score of 150! You basically scored better than 99.9% of the general population! However, I have serious doubts that your IQ is really 150. Why do I have my reservations with such a claim? A person of such intelligence would know that there are certain basic mathematical rules that must be followed when equations, such as the extremely simple one on the registration, have a combination of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Maybe you thought you already knew everything, with your alleged superior intellect, or perhaps you were absent from school on that day.

Regardless, you have failed at basic math and are now embarrassed enough to cover your obviously insufficient knowledge by redirecting your anger elsewhere instead of where it truly belongs. I would suggest that you sign up for remedial math courses at a local college or maybe even take initiative to research basic mathematical rules on Google. Even one as intelligent as you might actually learn something.

Also, since your IQ of 150 doesn't seem sufficient enough to gain access to membership at Boomboxery, I feel I must tell you that even when you figure out the equation (you're not a quitter, are you?), you won't be able to post your JVC RC-656 for sale. Boomboxery has a minimum post count before access to the For Sale section is granted. I know, yet another hurdle for your intellectual prowess to overcome.

I wish you the best of luck in life and with the sale of the JVC. Meanwhile, the rest of the new members who know the answer to the simple equation are really enjoying the website. I am so sorry that you won't be able to join us.

Best regards,
Fatdog

Do you think I was too rough on the boy?

Not rough enough, IP ban the guy.

Incidentally I was away from school the day they did order of operations in math, yet I figured it out.

(actually I was away the whole year in Europe on a camping trip).

I wonder If that was Matt Hoffman the BMX guy. I can understand him not figuring out your registration math problem with all the concussions he's had in his bike career!

Well even if it isn't...and this doofus is likely NOT the BMX guy...his response still leads me to believe that he has had at least oh...200+ incidences of blunt trauma to the head!

Well done Bobby! Hey even if this dork were to register and figure it out, I wouldn't block him. I'd love to have an opportunity to "punt him around" a bit...

Even my 9 YO son knows about BODMAS :dunce:

Three digit IQ, well most of the guys I know earning big money do it with hard work, not hard thoughts.

Our miners over here make CRAZY money, even a laundry person on the off shore oil rigs can earn $400K per year.

Love the response FD

Most people who contact me regarding the math equation are very polite. I never tell anyone the answer, but I do tell them about the orders of operation and suggest Google for more info.

This guy doesn't exactly do a good job at demonstrating his 150 IQ. I hope that he will respond. I haven't gotten to write anything like that since the whole Michael Garrett drama marathon. :-D  :-D

UPDATE:

I just found a picture of this guy and he apparently used a fake name. His real name is Mark. His language made me think of a guy 16 to 24 years of age, but now I know he just has some anger-management issues.

I did not know that we had a math question initiation question but these hurdles seem to be accomplishing great things by filtering out the A-Ho's, members we could do without.

Well, I just called that guy's phone number shown on Bobby's link to help him with the math question (I got an IQ of 151)
but it has been disconnected.
:-/  :dunce: ;-)
