I know at times people would rather not discuss about politics, but this is the reason why we should we don't want to hear the reality so we shut it out. That only will increase our freedom being taken more and more from us!!!!

I feel bad for Obama he may have good intensions for America and for his two daughters.

It's just that we as American are not involve and thats why we don't always agree because we don't take time and analyze. Also big interest groups blinds us from the truth.

People argue about a Government run Healthcare well hello Medicaid and Medicare are government run programs, so far the elderly are very much content with their coverage.

I blame GREED for all this mess. period!

I can't believe that 35% vote for a terrible job on Obama, so I guess George Bush was better.
His administration dropped the ball at Wall Street the regulators from his Administration that were suppose to keep watch on the Credit Rating Agency such as Moodys, Standards and Poor etc... these agencies are the caused of all these junk loans that were rated AAA. Where were the Bush administration when this was happening.

Ford I do agree we as a nation tend to disconnect ourselves from what is happening day in and day out however I think we can all agree politics are not why we're here. For the purpose of this site and hobby political debate really should not occur here, I think I can guarantee the outcome will not improve this site or our bond. Talking politics will only divide us so I say please lets leave politics for another place.

There are some major issues on the table this year. The health care overhaul would be IRREVERSIBLE and it would eventually affect everyone in the US.It would take 14% of our economy out of the private sector. This is not something we can simply try to see if we like it.

Obama said in early 2008 that it was his intention to get rid of the private insurance option all together.I'm not sure what he's "saying" now.Private plans will be taxed and penalized to hasten along this process. For their bottom line, your employer will most probably hand group coverage over to the government. It would be hard for private insurance companies to compete with the government as they don't need to make a profit. In the bill as written if your currently held policy changes in any way (terms etc.) it will be legally voided and you MUST sign on to the public "option" :hmmm: The insurance companies will not be able to take on new customers for their policies either :hmmm: .Despite all of this of course you can keep your current plan, as long as the insurance companies stay in business. The eventuality is that you will be locked into a government plan without any competition to keep them honest.

Under socialized medicine doctors are paid less.Trying to cover everyone, including illegals, there will be a shortage of doctors. At the same time there would be less incentive for people to choose it as a profession.Under the plan doctors could only give treatments that some new government entity deems financially wise for the collective population as a whole.Even with this bureaucratic intervention doctors would be 100% responsible if they were sued.

What's very telling is the cuts to medicare to partially fund this new system.Rationing has plagued every country to have adopted public medicine. This would require the government to decide what treatments people will get and even who lives or dies. It's only natural that cuts would be deep into the elderly population initially as they would be considered not "productive" members of society.Individuals would be only seen as valuable as relates to the society as a whole. As a side note, this disregard of the individual is a basic component of fascist forms of government. And keep in mind that rationing doesn't only affect the elderly in countries having socialized medicine. You could not appeal to them to reconsider your case either. If you have a monopoly you don't have to provide good and timely service as there are no other options.People in other countries can wait months, even years for tests, procedures even if time might be of the essence.

How good is the government at running such things?keep in mind Medicare is going bankrupt as is Medicaid.Whether you're for or against a government "option",I'm nervous about the lack of details being released when considering the speed at which they want to move passing this bill.I suppose you could say this is a bit off topic given the simple poll question I asked, but I'm just answering the post pertaining to this currently debated issue.

Those who ignore (or are ignorant to) history is bound to repeat it. I've already seen this happen here in CA with earthquake insurance. I used to have private earthquake insurance through State Farm. Now, our only choice is the PUBLIC OPTION through the California Earthquake Authority. Private companies no longer provide it and have passed it on to the govt plan. Poor coverage, high cost. I used to have this coverage. Not anymore.

Our bond should not be affected by these discussions in fact it should be used as a learning tool for all of us to get more involve with our country.

Dangerous topic Jovie. :grim:

We are all buds on the boombox level but politically we most certainly have varying views from all points of view. Nothing can heat up as quickly as Political debates, views and comments. I love all my boombox brothers and don't really want to get into a political debate, usually only bad things will happen in this case.

Rating him on your scale is fine but the inevitable comments will likely polarize the topic.

:agree: with MasterBlaster84 on this.....very touchy subject!!!

Have a wonderful Labor Day Weekend!!!
