I'm sorry to hear about your loss Bill.
A cat is a member of your family, and a loss can be and is just as painful as losing a human family member.
I know,I lost a great cat a few years ago. He was missed terribly and it took a quite a while to get over it.
Hang in there buddy. ;-)

you know there was three times in his life where he got sick at christmas time.
both times he took all the christmas money. two of the times he got better, but he used up his nine i guess and just wore out.
he was a well used cat that is for sure.
i remember the first time he got really sick and the vet did not listen to my warnings that he was a very difficult cat ended up pressed against the walls with his hands in the air and damiel howling at him.
these cats have a really really really loud voice when they are angry. in fact they scream so loud that it could wake the dead.
he was very very lucky to get old. i mean i have no idea of how old he was he could have been seventeen he could have been 27 for all i know.
i am just glad i had the strength to not let things carry on to the point that would have been cruel to have him go on.
theres three other cats here.but the strange thing is how quiet it is here now.
they say cats sleep about twenty hours of the day not damiel tho. he was always awake when i was up until when he got sick.
christmas is going to be a pretty low key affair for me this year.
we spent all the cash on vet bills and well maybe a turkey on the twenty fifth and well wishes for the world but other than that not to much.
i think tho on the 26th i will have to go to the spca and ask for thier least likely to be adopted cat.
i am not in a rush tho.

Perfect! I always go to the apa and find the biggest mutt or ugliest cat and they turn out to be my best friends! I have a ll black cat named bugsy that I got because I believed someone supersitious would be mean to him - super cool cat :sin:

Best of luck Bill and god bless you and your departed companion!

Bill, I've lived with cats my whole life. Was up to seven at one time (almost got run out of the neighborhood!), and still have two. I know the joy and companionship these little critters can offer... and the heartache they leave behind when they die. Each is a unique individual, which means that each relationship is special. Fortunately, each one of my cats has also left behind some wonderful and unique memories, and in time those memories (which bring smiles) overcome the pain of the loss. It hurts me to hear about your grieving, but I'm so glad there are people like you who care for and protect these wonderful animals (especially the ones who, like yours, have experienced suffering). Whle no other cat will be able to replace the unique friendship you had with Damiel, I hope before long you're able to adopt another companion to fill the void left by Damiel's passing. There are so many cats who could benefit from the kind of love you have to offer!

Thanks for sharing your story!

Bill sad about your loss I have a kitty that I rescued about 4.50 months ago at only 2 weeks of age I had to bottle feed him and all other things that go with such a small kitty. When I heard that he lost his mom to a car and would be taken to the local Humane society shelter. I got in my car and went off to my wife's friends house that found him. I took him in I had read about my local humane societies practices. He is now fully vaccinated and 100% healthy. The vet said he was lucky to have found a family to take him in since the humane society in Allentown PA. kills a large percentage of the animals that are brought in.I say I'm the lucky one for all the joy he brings me.He follows me around all the time if I go from one room to the next there he is if i go to the bathroom there he is behind me here I am typing and there he is at my feet sleeping.Such loyalty!!!!!!

My local humane society.

Sorry to hear about your loss, Bill.

I can't imagine how I'd feel if something happened to my little dog, Saki... Can't imagine our familiy without her now, and she's not even 2 years old yet.

Presents are secondary and not really what Christmas is supposed to be all about anyway. Togetherness is much more important. Have a great family meal! And adopt that cat, like you said you would... Do it sooner and you can celebrate a new dynamic in your family over the holidays!

Sorry for your loss bill, losing a family member is never easy whether it's a cat, a sibling or whomever.
Just remember what he brought to your life, the joy and the memories will live with you forever.
