So, I have listed a couple of my radios for sale in the local kijiji to help pay some bills etc, and one sold today so I went to drop it off. I sold him the RX-C39 which, out of the ones left in my collection, was the one I had the longest.

So when I get there he says he has an old radio I might want to take a look at. So we walk up the stairs to his place on the top floor of the house, and it's waiting against the wall just beside the stairs; a Wheelie!!!

International MS-959 to be precise. It's in rough shape, and due to the roughness, and as he learned I collect and fix boomboxes, he gave it to me free. I have to say though, that my 1hr walk home was quite hell. This thing weights a decent amount, but the handle is terribly un-ergonomic! I feel that gloves are a mandatory accessory for this big boomer.
Anyway, a before shot below, and I'll try to fix it up and see what happens. Might have to post a wanted ad for some pieces though, as it seems to be missing lots of teeth and knobs.

Wow!! MASSIVE score!

You'll be able to score parts from Australian guys, these things are pretty common down here.
.
Best of luck on the restoration! These are BLOODY rare in Canada and America.

Nice to know the aussies might be able to help!

I have to be honest though, this thing seems like a piece of crap compared to the quality I'm used to (Panasonic, JVC) but I do like the lighted EQ sliders

The old owner told me one speaker didn't seem to work, but I just powered it on before opening it up and both woofers seem to push alright. I like that because it means less problems to fix :-P

I was curious about the sizing, maybe someone could confirm for me. Since i have never seen a c100F in person, and this boombox looks very similar, I was curious if they are the same size?

Your International is larger than a C100. The JC2000/Wheely/International is the biggest of the onepiece boxes ever made.

But it's also about 50% of the quality soundwise and buildwise of a C100.

If I have read it once, I have read it 20 times, that the Wheely has 10 inch speakers....

Those STILL look like 8's to me! :hmmm: :annoyed:

These definitely are the biggest and emptiest boxes they ever made.
But there's lots of ho† tape storage in the back!

The biggest problem with these is shipping them. The size and bulk means it'd probably be 250-300 shipping on these from .au
to u.s. Not to mention the high probability of this getting totally smashed by the u.s postal service.

If you come out we'll get one organised for you, Chris!

pretty sure the wheely has 10'' speakers they just look smaller from the outside .

i had one of these around 1989/1990 when they were advertised on tv ,that was the only way i even knew they existed when i saw the commercial on tv they were even advertised as the largest boombox in the world at the time and only cost like 200 bucks so i ordered one  i ended up trading it for an amp and sub box for my car .
