Hi everyone,

My name is Daniel and I am from Denmark.
I am new on the forum and would like to say hello.

I have been a Revox collector for some time but I decided to sell a lot of the old reel machines.

I was looking around at pictures of old boomboxes/ghettoblasters and I found this from when I was a kid.

So now I am looking for a service manual and schematics.

I would really like to add a line-in somehow and I was looking at the GF-5757 which seems to be it's twin.
Would any of you happen to have the manual or schematics for the 5757?

I realise that the 5757 does not have the EQ.

I have attached a picture of the GF-600.

Thanks in advance :)

Neat looking box. Check out the tech and resto section to kinda get done ideas how to do it.

You might check analogalley.com for manuals. He is a member here. If he has it, it'll cost a few bucks, but they're good quality and totally worth it.

Thanks for your help trippy, I can see that there is a lot more work than just tapping in to the tape output.
On the back of the GF-600 there is a din connector, so maybe it's best to try that first, or even check how many wires connected on the back of it. I guess, 4 would mean in and out.

I could not seem to find any specific topic on doing line-ins and I guess it all depends on the brand and model.
Maybe I am just not very good at using the search function.

I read another thread with a guy who owns a 5757, I will try to take contact to him.

Actually I was thinking of getting a 5757 as well, but man, collecting and repairing costs time and money, in return you get a lot of joy though.

Finding, repairing and adjusting heads on the reel to reels has become more of a struggle than a joy.

I do enjoy other things such as messing with modular synthesizers and in general vintage synths, some casio watch collections from the 80s-90s, mostly the digital ones that has cool colors or features, such as the Casio SKX-1000.

Sharp GF-600, I was sold! What a great looking small boombox.

I have contacted Sharp with an irresistible lovely text in a contact form,
let's hope a nice person in the other end can find the schematics and manual.
Would be really cool to know if the DIN connector on the back is input or output.

I could be wrong, somebody may correct me, but I believe DIN connectors are sometimes both. I believe it's 5 pins, (1 negative, L&R in, L&R out).

Hi again,

The scematic was on a russian site.
http://www.boomboxpilot.ru/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=55
Not easy to locate, there are more schematics and user/service manuals in there, but requires login, which hopefully I will get as soon as I meet up with a friend of mine who is from Ukraine (he speaks and reads russian) so he can help me creating an account.

I used a Firefox add-on https://addons.mozilla.org/da/firefox/addon/copy-all-links/
to locate the links for the pdf. I need to run the search again.
Also google chrome has some neat tricks if you right click and press inspect elements, that way you can fetch files and stuff that is otherwise locked content.

Actually I have one question, I have located where I want to insert the line-in but I have no idea where to connect the GND from the mini jack.

I have attached a picture which hopefully can help a little.

If anyone can tell me if what I want to do here is crazy please let me know.
I am not sure if the mute part of the amp IC is used, hence the red line.
The squares are where I want to insert the line in with a normalized stereo 3,5mm minijack.
When a plug is inserted the connection from the radio audio is broken, when the plug is out the radio has connection again.

This I assume is the best way to be able to record back to tape and keep the radio working, plus I don't really have to work out how the muting thing works, I am not sure if the whole amplifier is being shut down or just muted, funny thing pin 3 does not have a switch?!?!?
