That Toshiba is :w00t:

But that ISP is :-O :-O How much does it weigh?

Don't know exactly but it's a load without cells and I can only imagine with D cells or a gel pack which it can accommodate. :-D Glad you're diggin' the Tosh too!

is that toshiba cd from ebay? :-)

I did get it off the 'Bay. Stumbled upon it and knew how RARE it was and took the bet that it was 100% working. Excellente price too!

Yeah I've always passed on the ISP cuz I thought it was rather bland looking, but if it really sounds as good as a Studio 1 then I'll have to reconsider. Wonder who actually made it, because I don't think ISP is a real company. Hitachi maybe?

Nope not Hitachi. It actually was a German company and had components made in Japan. This box was also sold under the Lloyds brand for the US market and Orion for Japan. I've seen pics of the Lloyds on the Russian site with its guts open and can tell you there are differences on the insides. (Price restrictions for the markets leading to "value engineering".) However I haven't seen the Orion. I'm sure they exist (if they still do) as they are in the Boombox Database. Fully working? that would be a reach if you can get your hands on one. I know HiFi Tom has one and there's another or two floating around. But no manuals, no schematics, no info other than the few crumbs on the web. :-) Absolutely reconsider... :-D

just love the montgomery wards silver st 858 aka o.s........got to get me one of those, ive admired the silver st858 version for some time.one recently turned up on ebay uk,99 pence start, and myself thinking it would go high, left well alone, only to find it finished at £12.50....gutted is an understatement,as the owner might as well have given it away for that

Thanks bro! :-D Too bad the Silver was too beat up. :-/ Unless you love a challenge, then yeah, you don't want to have to tear these down. The way the tuner string is run is a PITA and putting it all back together will give great satisfaction only after your frustration has been drowned by beer. :-D  I'll have to post my antenna tip fixing tips in another thread later. :-D

Nice additions, I like the black Sanyo mini and the Tosh cd box, but all very nice

Thank you! :-D

What is the deal with the press-board on the back of the Toshiba?

The ISP looks like a beast, kind of looks like the Technics SA-C07 with some differences.

I thought the same thing about the Tosh when I saw it on the 'Bay initially til' I zoomed the pics. It actually let's more air in and allows you to get to screws on the front panel. (It's hollow enough to get a normal sized hand in there and all components are arranged around the opening.) It's a pretty big box and heavy. :-D The ISP is a beast. Just what I needed, another shoulder buster. But for the sound...absolutely worth it! (Really, I ain't carrying this thing no further than around the house, if I get out my BASSment. )

Awesome additions brother!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Btw, you might wanna seal up the back of your ECO mini BOOMBOX, it's gonna leak! :dunce:   My favourite of all is the Eco definitely!!!

Happy that you've kept the Avatar... hehehehehe... made it with lots of LOVE brother!

HA! I knew you would dig the Eco Boombox! Yeah, I know it will need some work. I have some scotch tape and post it notes to shore it up!
And the avatar is classic. I actually have printed it out and hung it on the wall in my office. Everyone gets a kick out of it. Now only if I could find that pic of me and Ira with the pimped out woodie and our beeyotches... :hmmm:

Thanks! :-D I am blessed moreso than lucky. I have a great wife and kids. And have great fellowship here at Boomboxery. And then there's my BASSment! BTW...I'm a BIG fan of Top Gear (BBC). Our version on the History Channel is getting better though. :-)

ripped of a QT-95 for the eco box  great addition. I had that ISP too. Monster Sound

I made a video of it

Ripping off the QT-95...surely you didn't think the Chinese would come up with something on their own? Why did you let your ISP go? :hmmm:

Very cool, great shots too!

What is the year of that Toshiba CD? :hmmm:

Thanks blu! The Tosh is 1985. Mine was November 1985. :-D

Some really cool and unusual additions!   I've always been fascinated with the Montgomery Ward boomer!

Thanks Style! :-D I have always tried to mix it up without going for the typical 777, M70, M90, 9494, 931, etc. yadda yadda that proliferates. Not a diss but I always wanted to mix it up and stay off the beaten path. But my heart is with component boxes because you just cant beat the power and sound. Don't think for a New York minute though that I wouldn't snatch up one of the aforementioned if the price and time is right. ;-) :-D

Great adds Freddie.
That JVC looks like an old piece of military equipment.
Love the Toshiba and the ISP very sophisticated looking gear
I would love to get a listen of that ISP. Where were those manufactured? I've never seen one of those before.

Thanks Frank! The JVC is a tough little beast. The ISP's were made in Germany and Japan from what bit of info I could find on them. Of course that explains the looks and why the FM only goes to 106mHz on my Euro version. :-D

Wow, this Toshiba looks really mean machine. How is the sound? She looks really close to hi-fi equipment building techniques back in the day. Never saw this one before. Bet is really rare machine. Congrats. Love the other machines too.
And especially love the way of your collection - on the edge between boomers and hi-fi stuff . It there is a name "bridge cameras" in photography , i would say that your collection is from "bridge boomboxes" . And i think we should start using this meaning here too

Thanks! :-D The Toshiba is a balanced sounding unit. Not too high, not too low just easy to listen to. It is deceptively loud and built well. As it has an EQ, you can adjust it however you want but really a good solid boomer.

Great post! I recently found the ISP and Orion. Was searching for Orion on the forum and this thread came up. I can confirm the sound is unheard good for a boombox! It dwarfs the big grails easily imo. It has a double Sanyo STK 6431 power amp inside.

Reli

Boomus Fidelis
I have one too, it's nice, but the Telefunken Studio 1 smokes it for warmness and clarity.

Reli, you have to turn the volume up. Then it comes alive. This is not a Wohnzimmer box like the Sony FH, rotel or studio 1.

Which model do you have? I'm looking for the Lloyds. I have a nice Hitachi M2 for trade ;)

Yes it's nice! But like Reli says, if you're looking for good hifi. Get the studio 1! Srry for the hijack Oldskool. You have some real beautiful boxes there in the bassment! :)
