Hey guys and girls. My names David and i'm new to the forum.I have always been a fan of the vintage boom boxes and am happy to find that such forums exist after much searching. Every child of the 80’s remembers fondly their blaster. The most memorable moment for me was playing basket ball with my brother and friends in peak summer time listening to Nolan Thomas “yo little brother”. The neighbours didn’t understand or appreciate the genre and/or volume of the music rupturing out of the massive speakers? The thing weighed more than I did when I was born! Fortunately (for most of us at least), Ghetto Blasters have paved way for more socially acceptable devices we can use to listen to our music in public such as the iPod.
This brings me to my next point of the rejuvenation of the i931 but the thought of the original lasonic TRC-931 and not the 99 re-release still makes me feel warm inside, and I can’t help but to think that If I lived in America or Japan perhaps i would have had the privilege to own such a cool boom box. This brings me to my next point. I am now on the hunt for an original good condition Lasonic TRC-931 which is proving almost impossible to find. When I do find one I am overruled by the us domestic demand for the items and the seller’s are more hesitant to ship internationally. This is why when I found this forum; it reinstalled hope for me to finally get my hands on the boom box of my dreams. So this is a little about me sorry for the essay.
Cheers

Edit: I just realised there was an introductions section, moderators feel free to move the thread or delete it and I will start another in the appropriate section..

I spoke to him on ebay,he never got back to me with a shipping quote to sydney. I msg'd another two times via ebay to ask if he was still interested in selling internationally. I would assume that he has had alot of domestic interest and would be much easier for him to sell locally. With all due respect not many people are willing to send the 931 half way across the world as it's a risky liability for the seller even though I offer to pay via paypal to majority of seller's don't want to take the risk of having the boombox damaged in transit or the possibility of not recieving the money. I have 100% good feedback on ebay with 54 transactions.
I will keep looking,Not in a rush but am ready to buy if the right one pops up..
Cheers for the welcome

I've seen shipping on ghetto blasters in Australia on eBay with shipping charges of close to $200.00 to send to the U.S. I got a quote a little while back from a seller who was willing to ship but then sold it locally,(about 15x36x24 inches) and the weight in (about 25 pounds) and shipping to Australia came up to $80-$100 through the post office.
I am going to stay posotive and keep my eyes open but yeah thanks again for the warm welcome and hopefully ill be contributing my new collection soon. Cheers

Welcome aboard, David! There are plenty of 931s out there to be had. If you can't get a deal with TRC-911, keep looking and don't get discouraged. ;-)

Welcome David, this a great site with the best boombox buddies you'll find.

Don't let it get you down, stick with the search and I'm sure you'll eventually get one. Shipping can be very dicey as costs can vary wildly depending on the method and your right one of the big concerns to many sellers is shipping damage. Another concern is Paypal protection, it doesn't cover loss between all transactions when it's between two different countries. Not sure about Australia to America transactions but if the protections do apply then shipping cost and damage would be the only real concerns.
