Which boombox should I bring to a birthday party that will be playing 80's music as a background via RCA jacks to an ipod/iphone? I was thinking my JVC RC-M70, but gotta tell ya, I may bring the Panasonic RX-5055 because of how loud it gets (if you need it), and the simple control layout on top with the big rotary volume knob for quick turn ups and downs for announcements, plus the 4 band EQ helps, oh and Ambience for sound projection. Any ideas?

It goes louder than an M70?? Surely there's no way.

But I do agree that knobs are way better than sliders.....Sliders "look" cool but they are inferior ergonomically and in reliability.

And from what I've read elsewhere, the Panasonic has not enough bass. Seems like you are not too much into bass, does it really has such a good sound?

the 707 obliterates the kaboom in sound quality, prolly one of the only cd boxes i would own again if i could afford one , i had one when they first came out and it was an expensive radio and to me the sound was awesome , also had the top of the line sony cd box and ended up hating it after a few days .

Totally agree JVC Floyd, but not to upset the kaboom fans......the JVC Kaboom sounds like a fart can on an '89 Nissan Pulsar.

BTW, the radio on my avatar is a Quasar GX-3642, which is the Panasonic RX-5150's cousin. I no longer have that Quasar in my collection. Very nice radio!
