here is the step-by-step event series-
sorry for this long post -- but i NEED some analysis

first off -- im fessin up---
yes i am a boomaholic and a gamble-aholic ( since birth ) and a BIN-aholic and a discoholic

i have blindly hit about 100 BINS !!! --all with NO seconds to waste on sissy Q/A crap -
i secretly enjoy the big risks & surprises --
and so my big collection reflects all that .............
lots of winners // lots of losers // and many so-so jobs --so its like this --- &

my 5 grandkids and me -- love discolites --i now have a FLEET of them

so --did i need any more ? NOPE

except 45 days ago --kind member Tshorba --posted up here -
an ebay listing for this BOXED 100% working NICE d-lite from ebay australia-
i never even saw ONE boxed d-lite for sale -

so YES --i want it --why not ?--can always sell a good d-lite -

and the seller seemed great --a huge 571 ----100% positive feedback

be right back

now --plenty of members here have posted that they wanted a good discolite --
and would have been happy to see one of you guys get it -
but NOBODY ever replied to tshorbas timely post

so --i figured --you were all playing possim -
and waiting to snipe it at the end -- right ?

the BIN was 1499 ( have seen lots sell for more with NO box ) ----and the starting bid was only 799-
well -- i already had a few $$$ in that big BIN range --so no sense paying all that -- just for the OEM box

instead --i respectfully waited till the last few seconds --
nobody hit the BIN and there were NO bids at all ---
still --i expected a few my aussie member friends to try for the big snipe --
so i only bid $800 --
ie - i would have cost you guys just A BUCK !!!

--NOBODY bid = I WIN --
a great boxed disco-lite for only 799

Well if you end up getting this box in one piece, it will be a deal. Nobody else bid on it because there were so many spelling mistakes in the keywords!

The other day a rough discolite sold for $950 or something on eBay.com.au

So hopefully it all works out for you.

i have had 100% perfect dealings -- both buying and selling with aussies --
just to drop a few good names --try terry and glue and alfie and AZA and nick and tshorba and ledmeter and more-

also --having shipped about 6 big grails over there --i knew what $$ to expect from the air freight bill-

the grand total in US$ was $1080 ---
thats plenty -- but to me - a very decent deal

the rest of this experience was all downhill

---first -- i heard NOTHING from the seller for an entire week ??
not even a polite thanks for my IMMEDIATE payment :annoyed:

then -- i gently email to ask about my shipment --

seller -- a few DAYS later |-) |-)
replys --- the paypal just cleared ???????????? and the granny is sick --will ship soon :annoyed:

finally --15 days after i sent the payment -- i get the tracking number = YIPEE -- its on the way

i usually trust people --never even bothered to track it

2 weeks later --NO BOX ( i paid for AIR freight )

by now -- its 30 days after payment -- so i get a tad ' concerned '
turns out ---the tracking number is BOGUS :annoyed: :annoyed: :annoyed:
wonder if " terminal grammy " fked up the number :'-( :'-(

i dont even waste my time to email the ahole seller -
filed an immediate dispute --still NOTHING ?
7 days later |-) |-) --upgraded dispute to a claim - 7 days later .. still NOTHING

so --after a long $$ 43 days --paypal , of course --gave me 100% refund --today
-------------------------

we are all supposed to at least learn something from shittttee experiences -
but... what was learned this time ?

Any effort is worth it to try and secure a DiscoLite, and if you don't get it you can at least gain some solace in the fact that you tried as hard as you could.

I think the moral to this story is "Follow up, follow up, follow up". To me, that's allot of money to have hanging in the wind and Q & A's open up dialog and you know if someone is at the other end....

Dunno, sounds like you did just fine, Ira. You rolled the dice on a potential big win. Usually there's a big risk for any big gamble, but this one ended costing you nothing but a little frustration. And remember, before that frustration you got to enjoy that eBay high when you think you nabbed a major score!

Go onto ebay.de ira, and, get either a grundig c9000, or, RR1140 (not the brown one though). The RR3000, has the fastest cassette response, i have ever seen. Don`t try and work on one though.
