My Small Collection

Hello all, some of you may have seen me post around and I figured I'd introduce myself and post my small collection.

My obsession came from finding a Panasonic RX -F4 at the local thrift shop a couple weeks ago. It was love at first sight. I bought it threw some batteries in and started jamming out, It needs a proper belt for the tape deck but sounds great otherwise.(stole the tape counter belt and wrapped it around the motor..Haha)



I'm not completely new to boomboxe. My mom owns a Sony SRF-80 with a detachable Walkman unit. I recently got it working again and cleaned up. A little rough as my mom used it for work for many years.


Finally, just yesterday I aquired a JCPenney for $5. Tape deck needs a bel, and the record button is broken. Knobs needed a little cleaning and she works good. Looks like it's actually a Toshiba unit.



There was also this Sony....still trying to get my wife to accept the awesomeness of these things. I might pick it up later when it's half off.

Haha thanks you guys! I've been collecting and shooting with old film cameras for a few years, which I've spent a good chunk of change on, so the wife isn't too pleased that I am taking up a new hobby. Haha but I'm persuading her. There's a Sony Cfs 500 for sale around my parts for a hundred, I'm trying to get ahold of iThe if she'd let me buy it. Ha

But yes, the Panasonic is an amazing little box. Love the sound love the looks and the size!

I didn't want to starta new thread, but I wanted to know if anyone had any info on a Panasonic RX-CD100. I wasn't sure if it qualified as a boombox, but it had an antenna as well as battery slots (i mean if the Sony FH series can be considered a boombox, maybe this one is a boombox?) . I can't find anything online except for one on Yahoo Japan. They wanted $30, seemed a bit steep, but it was cool

I was entering a photo contest that involved your car in an alleyway, we'll what better way to add to an alleyway shot than with a boombox?

Alright,I finally got me a larger box for $30. A Panasonic RX-5085, everything works but she's rough. I've got it taken apart, speakers seem to have gotten wet and there's a small tear. I'm not entirely sure how deep I'm going to get into this thing cosmetically,I'd love to get the chrome back to its former glory, but I don't think I have the skills for a complete repainting
