Hello everyone, about a week ago I came across an ad on Craigslist. I was just browsing when I seen an ad for a Sharp VZ 2000. I called the owner and asked a million questions, and he was super friendly and happily answered them all in full detail. He was selling all of his collection. He had the original owners manual and original schematic sheets, but unfortunately he had lost the original cardboard box due to water damage when he left it outside on his porch, BUMMER! He even emailed me a bunch of pictures of the Sharp which was cool. So we made arrangements to meet up and I could not wait to make the hour and a 1/2 drive to check it out. Next day the family and I met Willy at his place of business and my 1st impression of this huge box was WOW, THIS THING IS BIG! I had never seen one in person before. So after testing the turntable, cassette deck, aux in, batteries, and every button and feature I could see, there was NO WAY I was going to drive home without it! EVERYTHING works, it was recently serviced a few months ago and the turntable belt was replaced and everything else was looked at as well. Theres only a few minor scratches, and the only thing it's missing is 1 mic mixing slider, the antenna is a ZENITH antenna, so it's not original to the boombox but i didnt even care. We talked, and settled on a price and shook on it, I could see the pain in his eyes as he was going to miss this thing dearly. After the transaction he threw in a cool ZENITH microphone and a fresh set of 10 D batteries and we took a few pics. We loaded it in my truck, secured it lovingly and as I was ready to go he said "Steve, wait a minute" then he went to his truck and handed me a GE boombox! and said "Here, take this with you" Then he handed me another, and ANOTHER! He told me he was DONE, and gave me the last of his collection! I was stunned but SUPER HAPPY. His final gift was a DE LA SOUL album that we tested the unit with, but he didn't have the correct cover for it so he put it in a COMMODORES cover and said that he knew everything was going to a good home :-) So, short story long, I drove home, a VERY HAPPY MAN, I felt like a little kid. I'm so glad I was able to bring her home personally without having it shipped. Seems kinda delicate. Anyways enough jibber jabber, here's some pictures for you all!! I hope you all enjoy them as much as I enjoyed taking them, CHEERS!!!

After Willy (on the right) and I sealed the deal

Wow, that thing is really clean - got to love a box that has been loved and cared for (serviced regularly and not driven into the ground).

That seller sure is a great guy - he obviously identified you as a true believer giving you those extra boxes, mics etc as a bonus - I can only imagine your face when you first saw a VZ2000 for the first time!!

Congrats,

James.... :-)

Great finds. Some radio's are street beaten and some are so big and heavy that they never left the house. Your's looks like it has enjoyed a well respected indoor life.

Nice work Slo

Yea buddy, thanks Chris, the original owners were an elderly couple, so I'm the proud 3rd owner of this beautiful beast. I plan to never part with it and hopefully keep it in the family.

Heck Yeah!!! Welcome to the VZ club Hermano. Yeah, We'll work out that trade We discussed earlier too. I always love when You can get the history of where the Box has been, and who took care of it. It means alot (to Me, at least). Congratulations.

like i said many times before these are the rolls royce of the super huge boxes . no other 1 piece box this size can match the vz's quality , and in my opinion these thump and sound awesome. that one is the cleanest vz i ever seen that wasn't just out of the box new. amazing condition considering it actually got used. makes mine look like a garbage scow.
