I just bought my new glossy 931 from a college student in 'Bama. $120
MIB
Not a bad deal to me. I am really surprised in the quality, the box is super sturdy and the sound is superb
I was expecting it to be cobbled together and tinny but it feels very solid-like a boombox tank with 1/2 inch thick armor
Anyhow, i will post pics soon and I am thinking about picking some more up-Ipod compatibility is awesome as well

Maybe you had a bad one. I have had a lot of boomboxes, and some were grails. My box feels like it is a single piece. No flex or rattles and it is a great looker. I agree the reissue sounds better but that's in the bass department. I wish it had a stereo mono feature to remove the static hiss on unclear stations though.
Hopefully there will be one at the 2010 meet. I would love to hear one.

However, if you set it up correctly, take it outside and crank up the volume, it sounds pretty good.
If not, I'll cop another 1st edition i931... Still, none are better than a 1st edition TRC-931.
