I first would like to give praise to the idea of this place to post restorations and customizations.
I often find boxes from the not so lovely period of Boombox design that need a little rethinking.
And sometimes there's nothing better than putting on a movie and tinkering with a Boombox on your day off.

So..that being said ,here is the project in question. A fine "not quite a cheapy" model with top notch graphic E.
My first attempt at remodeling included strips of metal tape, but it started to wrinkle.
I liked the lettering on the edge but I couldn't stomach the brownish grey color that it was stenciled on.

The first order of business was to replace those round metal slices with actual tweeters.
Luckily, my amp can handle a little more tweet
.

I designed some decals with Illustrator.
Placed some LEDs
And there we have it, not so cheapy, but if I bang it up not a tear will be shed.
Still, it makes the ladies go Oooooh!
