My first MONO...

Okay, it is very seldom that I ever see a decent, vintage cassette-related ANYTHING in the thrift or consignment stores in my area. And I typically shun anything mono, and especially with the Lloyd's name on it simply because most of the Lloyd's boomboxes I've ever seen were plastic-fantastic-junk.

However, for a paltry $3 I simply couldn't pass by this attractive little player. I fell in love the minimalist black and silver retro styling. They let me test it in the store with an AIR SUPPLY prerecorded tape and it appeared to be working fine. Upon arriving home and hitting it with a little bit of Orange-glo, I'm pleased to show off this little gem.

Tapes sound surprisingly good and the AM & FM radio bands pull in stations better than many of the other radios I own.

Chekkitout!

Congrats and :agree: Jaetee with all of your points except the sound, I've never heard one so I'll take your word on it. :-D I notice an AUX jack on the side, looks like it will play an external source.

Very nice, indeed! I agree that the minimalistic looks of the box are really attractive. I would have snatched that one too.

Yea, I wasn't gonna buy it at first, but then I saw it had Auto-Stop and I had to have it! ;-)

Nice Lloyds mono-looks to be in quite OK condition and like the variety of jacks on the side.

agreed! Having a line input is always a deciding factor for me.It can increase a boxes appeal immensely in the digital age. It's design is simple and purposeful. Didn't the world make much more sense back then?

The aux-in is actually a bit perplexing as there is no switch for selecting it. That leads me to believe that it only works with the tape in record mode, similar to my Sanyo M9990. I'll dig out an 1/8" to 1/8" inch plug tomorrow and check that out.

There is also a switch on the top that is labeled "FM AFC" (on or off). Does anyone know what AFC stands for in this case?

Automatic Frequency Control

AFC helps to lock the tuner to any valid RF signal. ;-)
