Thanx again SLO...

Yeah, I'm just going to keep it anyways, even with the dings & scratches, I still love it! It still sounds good & looks huge & amazing. The best part of the SONY is it's preamp. Line in sounds amazing on a really good set of Sennheiser headphones. I mean you get detailed highs & massive, clean, bass, down to the floor...

Thanx NKLwithlove :-)

I hope the sound comes thru on the vids 'cause, no joke it sounds very good for a blaster now & actually has good bass, good clarity even without a 'Loudness' switch' or circuit that I know of...a very hard challenge to get the speakers right... :bang:

I'm still waiting on stuff from China for the M80....Grrr!!! In the meantime, I have to whip up an install plan for the M70 Strap holders I got from Blu-Fuzz. He traded me some strap clamps from an M70 & some of his signature straps, including a slick navy/silver striped job that looks so pimp & has the handle wraps plus the universal J-hooks for any bar or handled boombox....DOPE, SON DOPE!!!

I'll post some pics later when it's done. Wish me luck, I'm about to hack slots into my M90 & JB Weld those baddies in there....

BAM!!

Well, my parts & detail kit for various projects came in yesterday & today, so I've been busy detailing & updating various Super MODs & also got in my Poly-Film caps(2.2uF) for the SONY 88S....will update the crossovers tonight & do a compare-video to show any difference in sound....

Dude, anytime buddy. That navy silver strap is amazing stuff and now I'm all out! Hopefully I can get that again because it was the best. Enjoy!

Now, it's back to the skunk-works to try them out on the 88S VU-Zilla II.....

Initial listening tests indicate to me, that the new caps are definitely smoother, overall in the upper mid-range & treble. I am glad I took the time to do the upgrade. I have listened to the same songs again & added 1 more that I did not play in the previous set of test sessions....I'll try to show side by side vids so you can get an idea of the difference in sonic clarity & treble response....I hope it comes across in the vids like it does in person....

We'll have to see....stay tuned....

So now that you have had some time to soak it all up, how do you feel those Dayton's treated you? I see those on Parts Express, but have never owned any. The prices are great.

That Tuner was SCREAMING for LED's

The Dayton's are great tweeters for the money. Very compact, very good sounding in the mid/high range. The only downside to them is they have to be crossed very high, between 8-10Khmz for a 1st order crossover(simple cap filter) to get a smooth response down to about 2-3Khz.....Also, these tweeters are really designed for an A-pillar car install so it's really shallow mounting depth made the CFS-88S speaker upgrade possible....

Stay tuned for some comparison vids between the original electrolytic tweeter filters(2.2uF) & the new polyester film caps(2.2uF). At 6 ohms, that translates to a 12000Hz(12Khz) crossover point.

OK, here you have a dirty recording of some classic Reggae before & after the polyester-metal-film re-cap of my speaker crossovers for the 88S. Pay attention to the sound quality & tell me which sound you liked more. I thought, in person, the PoluFilm caps had a better sound overall & more detail in the highs & upper midrange....

You decide...
