Most of you know from s2g, i´m a big PHILIPS fan.
My favourites are from the MOVING SOUND series.
The "scooters" (Roller series) are funny and good sounding.

I just owned an red :vespa: serie1 and an red+yellow :vespa: serie2

This strange ear at the right cannot be detached.
I think it´s an bassport.
On the top is an "TurboBass" knob with regulator. :hmmm:

I must open it next time. I want to see what´s behind....

It was an hard job to clean it. A painter owned it before. Dirt in every part of it. :'-(
Now it´s quiet clean, new aerial will be needed next time.

I think it´s the ugliest box i own now. :tease: :hooray:

The "Rollers" look like they could have rolled off the Volkswagen assembly line :-D .They have a pretty distinctive appearance. It's always nice to be able to find different versions of a given box.

The "Turbo Bass" is quite unusual. Are those tweeters real? I've never seen anything quite like that one.As nice as some of the really classic boxes are we've become very familiar with their design. Many of us could draw them in our sleep  .It's always nice to see something unusual. Thanks for sharing it with us. How does it sound? Does it have good highs as well as good bass? Is there an equalizer on it?

Hm, do you really want to hear about it? :-/
Simply: NO

I think the whole box is a fake.
No equalizer
Without pressing the TBG knob and slider to max. , you can´t listen to it.
The sound is sooo weak.
I think the slider is an simple tone regulator, the TBG an loudness button, not more. :hmmm:

Here some pics from near

The spectacular TBG system:

The tuning knob is difficoult to turn, bad place :sadno:

VS, you find some of the most unusual boomboxes! That Turbo Bass Generator reminds me of a vacuum cleaner. :-P Very nice Philips too with all the different colors. Keep up the good work at finding them.

Nice stuff. Philips (nee Magnavox in the U.S.) had some interesting boxes. In the late eighties they had their turbo bass series come out and some of them could really go. How's the sound on yours? :-D

Hi VS-Very nice Phillips!!
Those are really cool and would be great for kids outside!
I like the unusual bass port on the right side of that one!
Very unusual.
Thanks again for showing us all your unusual & rare boomboxes!
Have a great weekend-GB. :-)

Actually I believe the biggest offerings from Phil/Mag around that time were pretty decent and actually had good equalizers. With your Turbo-Bass model,It was probably an entry level box in "wolves clothing" to make it seem nicer than it really was.I tend to think it probably has fake tweeters.Your right,it's turbo bass markings and "generator" are probably fake too.It must be like a car with hood scoops and air dams that has a stock engine and no performance mods underneath the skin.If you expect too much,it will let you down.More than likely you might think it a decent small box if it wasn't such a poser though.Even so,I like seeing the rare, odd, and unusual. Thanks for posting it :-)

I wish Reli was around to comment how appalling it's unbalanced design is.

Top find, Roman! Good to see the Moving Sound collection expanding!

Rock On.

In the hifi department Murray Camens and Graham Hinde developed the «Roller Radio» in the early80s,which was sympathic trough its round speaker shape and functional handle. The company succeeded to made the step in the market directed to the youth, which lead to ambitious construction concepts till today, such as the shape of the «Moving Sound»-Series (1988),worn by the basic color yellow.Since 1988 Phillips dedicated a special attention to the decals of it`s products and delegated the designers Marcel Heijen and Tom Batussen.
