Maganvox equivalents of Philips "Moving Sound" electronics are plenty hard to find in the U.S. these days, I'm guessing because so few of them were made for distributon here. Philips "Moving Sound" seems to have been basically a Euro design studio movement. Even harder to find today are Magnavox electronics that actually say "Moving Sound" on them. But recently I was able to add one to my collection: the D8077 boombox, which is basically the same as the Philips D8088 (shown elsewhere in this topic), but with round speaker covers and no high-speed dubbing. Leave it to the U.S. version to be in basic black, instead of something more eye-catching... like yellow!

As designer Dr. Robert Ian Blaich wrote,
“Moving Sound” was a breakthrough for Philips in introducing a coordinated program of promotional materials. Design was the key element in driving the highly directed marketing and communications effort; Product Graphics, and Packaging design were the basis on which all subsequent sales displays, advertising and promotional material were developed. The term “Moving Sound” indicated that the radios were portable (moveable) and that they Moved You (Emotionally).

Hey Vienna - sorry I dissed the Roller - I see it's actually quite the stylish piece. Should've grabbed the one I saw and popped it on the bay.

I just remembered... After browsing the whole 8 pages of this strange and cool obsession... I used to visit a lady who had the yellow roller 1 and the matching yellow Walky with matching yellow earphones (I think something about it was waterproof or water resistant) on her kitchen bench. Also a matching non-branded yellow plastic visor with built in solar powered radio with an antenna from te visor and a fold-down speaker! Sadly her house burnt down. It was a retro treasure trove.
