This Thursday night I will attend the very last Motley Crue concert on New Years Eve at the Los Angeles Stapes Center. With it will bring the beginning of the end of the original 1980's Heavy Metal movement.

Back in 1981-82 I saw Motley Crue on the Sunset Strip, in Hollywood at the Whiskey a Go Go, Roxy Theater and Gazzari's. They were selling their sound next to the likes of Great White, Quiet Riot and RATT to name but a few. All these bands used to walk Sunset handing out fliers and stickers begging you to come inside to see their show. They also handed out their demo cassettes of which I still have from many many bands of the era including Motley's.

In 1983 I saw them at the US Festival in San Bernadino along side Quiet Riot, Ozzy Ozbourne, Judas Priest, Triumph, Scorpions and Van Halen with 350,000 screaming Metal Heads.

I saw them again on the Shout at the Devil, Theater of Pain, Girls-Girls-Girls and Dr. Feelgood tours at various venues in LA like the Great Western Forum, Long Beach Sports Arena, The Rose Bowl and the Los Angeles Colosseum.

And now they will call it quits this Thursday, back in their home town. There are no bands that I can think of that are still performing today, from that era with their full original line up. Most bands have had to replace members due to break up or death, Slayer was one of the last, but are no longer the originals.

Motley Crue is it.

It's a bummer that our hero's have to grow old and die. I recently saw AC/DC at Dodger Stadium. They still sounded fantastic, but I know it is their last gasp. The same goes for all the bands of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. This is it. The last chance to see them before they fade away.

On December 28th, Lemmy from Motorhead died. He was one of the hero's I got to meet many times and even performed with my band in front of as he was a regular at the Whiskey a Go Go in Hollywood where I regularly performed. Kind of a strange thing, he saw me on stage at the Whiskey, I saw him on stage at the Irvine Meadows Amphitheater along with Iron Maiden and Dio.

In February I will see Black Sabbath one last time on their "THE END" tour. I guess it all has to come to an end sooner or later.

I urge you to get out there and see these bands before it's over.

I'll be banging my head on New Years eve to Motley Crue one last time! \m/\m/

Very Cool Chris I saw the crew back in 94 at a small venue in Chicago. I got so drunk that I ended up having a head on collision and totaling out my new car. Luckily I didn't get a dui which was odd. Lol. But I sheet a brick when it happened. Show was awesome!!! Have fun bro 👍

I wish I was around and able to be at these events. I bet I would have been in a 80's rock group, I can just feel it!

Fantastic Chris!! That's great!
I saw Black Sabbath at a small outdoor stadium called Parade Stadium and got in free and got a ride home in a Sting Ray!! 1977'!! Stage was wicked and Ozzy was in rare form!!
Then of course I got to see Led Zeppelin in 76'!!!!! Indescribably the most unbelievable concert I have ever seen!!!
Then just 3 months ago I get to see good old Mick Jagger in Nashville perform right up super close with Taylor!! I had the best seats there period!!!
On a platform right in front of the stage and stairwell.Mick Jagger did a duet with my friend Taylor Seift!😎 Mick still has the moves and can still actually sing.
I've seen many concerts and artists and know actually quite a few.
Time to go to more concerts!!! Well said Chris!!😀😎🎼📟💳📻🎵🎵

Man! I would've loved to see the Crue too. I've been wanting to catch AC/DC and Iron Maiden for a long time. The Year I decided I was finally gonna chase down and catch a Boston concert, Brad Delp (among the best vocalists) died about 2 weeks later :'-( . I'm making a furtive effort to catch as many Hard Rock & Metal bands before they fade away.

I honestly think they sounded the best I have ever heard them last night. Back in the day, they were so loaded and Vince Neil's voice was always blown out. But him and the band sounded just like the albums. FANTASTIC!

There are ton's of video's on YouTube and they announced a movie to be released in the theaters of the last shows.

Here are a few I found:

Motley Crue Vince Neil's Tearful Goodbye

Nikki Sixx says Goodbye
https://youtu.be/mjvlTjUjgg0

Tommy Lee's drum solo rig breaks down, leaves him stranded, has to climb down

Absolutely one for the record books!
