from the thifts.

Working on a way to make a unit
and get a strap to carry attached. :hmmm:

Maybe...
But its a way of saving these loose pieces found at the thrift store.
See alot of loose speakers from boombox's there.
Find original parts later.
Also have another JVC mid section.
Picked up some loose sony APM boombox speakers too.

its a great win//win plan --to save the odd center sections and speakers :angelic:

try this
--get a 3/32" strip of aluminum --1" to 1 1/2" wide --
bend it SLOWLY in a vice = might work :-)

go all out and measure how much space there is. Build two small boxes out of plywood or some other thin wood.
Spray boxes to match speakers, maybe even some stenciling to show that its YOUR creation
Mount Aiwa speakers to those "stands"
Make a slide mount (two L shaped rods on one side, one T shaped rod on the other) and glue or screw the male and female peices to your box and slide em together, youve seen em on some of the cheaper 3 piece units. You can probably buy something like that too if you dont have a router or dremel.
Get a handle from any big boomer and mount that thing right up.
Easy Peasy and would look OEM
Hell, you could even put a hinge on the back portion of the stands you make and have tape storage!

another idea to attach speakers is by putting two screws (with a head) at top and bottom of each side of unit with 1/8 to1/4" part sticking out and drilling holes with slots in speaker so you can push speaker over heads of screws and slide down to lock in place. :-D

Is the Sony unit battery powered?

Yes, it uses batteries.
And power boost when on the mains.

Hope .i dont end up reaching for the duct tape on this one. :-/

velcro is a nifty trick -
except the stick-back tape is never as strong as the actual velcro lock
:-O :-)

i got some 3m industrial stuff and it is really really strong the key is to make sure the surface is super clean.
a real pain to remove but it can be done.

After some time :hmmm: I tried some dollar store velcro strips and a strap
cut from a dog leash. 1$ each.

The velcro works quite well and I can pick up the
unit by the speakers.
These speakers are quite light weight not much stress on the velcro.
The speakers are also 'floating' on the unit.
Can also try different speakers this way. :-)

Have not connected the speakers, donno what it sounds like yet.

Well the first set of speakers sounded like crap.
Probably bring them back to the thrifts.
Tried another set of speakers from a Curtis egg mini stereo.
Better sound now :-)
