I found an M70 on Craigslist for next to absolutely nothing recently. It is probably a 6 out of 10 in appearance. It was a good deal just for parts.Initially,I thought the woofer surrounds were gone (thus my recent request for M70 woofers) but, on closer inspection, they were just dirty. After removing the grills both drivers seem to spring naturally to the touch. There were no rubbing sounds when I tested their spring. However, both drivers seem to have issues:
a) The right side woofer makes a "pop" with visible cone movement right after its volume slider is moved from minimum. After the slider passes that point, the speaker continues to play fine.
b) The left side woofer doesn't reproduce sound until its volume slider is moved about half way up.Then I hear a sort of fluttering sound I can only relate as a "WWWWaaauuuk".I can best explain it as a mechanical sound as opposed to distorted musical content. When this happens,I can see the cone is moving back and forth rapidly but only a tiny amount (you have to look closely to even see this).I don't hear music from this speaker.
Does anyone have some kind of an idea what might be wrong with these drivers...or might it be electrical issues?
