Hi,

One of my JVC M70s record button is not depressing now. This was stored for quite a while and noticed the problem only recently.

Anyone had this problem before? I put a cassette with the tab and cannot depress the record button. Please let me know if there is a way to fix it.

Have you tried manually depressing the tab inside deck and then record  otherwise it may be stuck internally and taking it apart may be only alternative :hmmm:

Yeah, make sure the little plastic pin that is pushed upward by a cassette is even in there. That would be on my checklist.

Hi Bill and Fatdog,

I manually pressed the little lever that senses the cassette tab is broken or not all the way and tried it. Actually that was the first thing I did. Nope! It won't go down at all. I didn't want to exert any force as it might cause more damage. the lever that moves the record switch on the main board works well. I can move the lever and move the record switch well. It appears like there is a catch somewhere between the orange button we press linked to the lever that one can see that moves the record switch on the main PCB.

It has to be catching then when the (usually black tab) is depressed but not releasing to unlock.. I live near chicago and if you need any assistance i would be more than glad to help :-D just shoot me a p.m

Hi Bill,

Thanks for the offer! Greatly appreciated! :-D I will try to look for the black tab the is not releasing. It should be somewhere hidden right? The lever that touches the tape's tabs is free. It could be the other end of this lever right? Thanks! God Bless!
