Happy birthday Chris! Someone at your age shouldn't be carrying those heavy radio's around. Since I'm a nice and younger guy I'll gladly take all you're radios
I'm going to take you up on that! Next time I go to the beach, I'll be calling you! Might be next Saturday at the Marina, then I can get you your cable back!

Nice one! Great way to spend your 45th! I turned 45 two weeks ago...I had to go to work rather than go to the beach :(

Great when you get to turn it up!! :)
Happy birthday bro....working on your birthday

Happy Birthday, Chris rocker!! Great to see you did it in style.

i took my M70 down to the beach a while back and was very impressed by the volume too.
(the M70 kept me and a bunch of surfers entertained while I did this shot http://www.flickr.com/photos/p3ss3ssod/8082532188/sizes/k/ )

Rock On.
I know we are just pissing off the land locked guys, but what can you do.... ;-)
The M70 is so perfect for blasting at the beach....there is always MORE volume on the sliders and I never went past 3/4...just a killer box!

Happy birthday! :-)
The M70 does a great job drowning out the sounds of fresh water too, as I proved last weekend in the mountains of NH! :w00t:
I think we're pretty much tapped for beach days here in New England. :'-(
I really enjoyed your thread, it helped me make the choice to take this box out actually. We have a few more beach day's left here in Southern Cal before we hand the torch over to the Aussies and the South American's for the next 6 months!

........I could hear that beast ROARING while I was waist deep! WOW what a monster.
Awww..... comeone now Chris. Everyone knows the true test of the beasts prowess is whether you can still hear it when you are under the surf. Heck, even Ira's colby can be heard when while waist deep. Happy Birthday!

Totally agree. I am so glad I listened to everyone on this site and bought one AND was lucky enough to have the talented hands of Norm to get it straightened out. It is a great box.

Nice M70. The EVH-70 Special Edition is always a fav for me.

Looks like you guys had a blast. I'm waiting on an M70C. It'll cost me some bukcs but its fully serviced & perfect working order. 47w power rating lets you know its the 100v JAPAN version sold in Canada without the extra control board for pitch, etc.

Cheers,
Cpl

Happy Birthday Lasonic! Sorry...kinda belated....have to work this weekend, didn't get on boomboxery til now. The M70 is reigning king of boomboxes! Perfect size, looks, great quality, features, and kills everything in its size range and many others that are larger and "more powerful" by their specs. Two things would make it beyond perfect though.......actual volume knob (no sliders) , and Biphonic would be killer! I love mine, but would never bring mine to beach.

Thanks Mel, It was members like YOU that convinced me I had to have one of these. This radio gets used allot more than most of what I have. It packs a punch and thank gawd it has strap locks, because it's heavy on long walks!

Thanks man, That's what my radio is, the Japanese 100v. Does that Canadian version have a 106khz tuner?

Thanks M.A., I too wish it was a knob and not a slider, but I got over it along time ago. What I do like how ever is with the strap hooked up and it slung over the shoulder, your arm sits right along with the handle and your hand is right over the sliders, as you walk you can make volume adjustments. It's friggen' perfect! I swear those Japanese were thinking it all through back in the day!

As for a BiPhonic. That would be cool, but the Loudness switch is some great on this box, I can live with out the BiPhonic.

Went to the beach today, brought all the goodies, chairs, awning, blanket, towels, wife, drinks and the EVH M70.

I have had this radio out many times. Social gatherings and such. But for the most part, in those situations, the volume is medium / semi loud at best.

But as many of you know, when you are at the beach, you have to beat the sound of the waves back with BRUTE FORCE! I found out today, the M70 can do that in Spades!

For the most part, the beach was empty despite 104 degree temps in LA and at my house in Ojai. In Ventura It was a solid 71 at the beach....so sweet!

With no one around other then a very tolerant wife I let it all hang out.

I set the M70 up on our beach blanket, about 20 yards from the water, pushed it to 3/4 and went for a dip. I could hear that beast ROARING while I was waist deep! WOW what a monster. :frankenstein:

No Joke...this is one of the most powerful music machines I own! PLUS, it looked damn good doing it!

BTW, still using the same Duracell's from July! The M70 sipped them for 4 hour hours straight, still showed FULL when we headed home....Thank you Victor / JVC :smooch:

As a side note, turned 45 years old today...not a bad way to spend the day!
