M-70 Record issues

I recently replaced the deck and belts in my m-70
Everything working great except it won't record.
The buttons will depress but it just seems to play the tape rather than being in record mode.dont know what I might be missing here.
Is there a micro switch in the deck that puts the deck into a record mode?

Yes. It's called the record bar. You probably did not put the linkage back correctly, so it's not switching over.

^ yep - it's easy to forget to have the record bar lever in the right position when putting the deck or main board back in.

Ok cool. Sounds like an easy fix. Although I didn't see the record bar. Guess I will have to get back in there.
